Hello.

Was wondering if there are any growers out there growing the fruit of the madras thorn. It used to sell by me at a local farmers market but the seller stopped bringing them. Would be willing to pay for the fruit (not seeds). You can comment or dm.

Thanks!

I just can’t even. Good luck on your journey.

luck on the journey will be good

Dude, they grow everywhere just like Cecropia. Like, everywhere. Acres of just Hala in places, they’re used for weaving and paint brushes but not used for food. You don’t grow them , theyre just everywhere. Like an Oak tree with acorns in cali.

I've tried them 5+ years ago and don't remember the flavor. The pods have to fall individually when ripe and with rat lung worm , eating fruit off the ground is a dicey proposition. I see the fruits shaping up so will see if I can get a picture and a taste when I see some appropriate drops .

In california? Where specifically?
Hmm interesting. You are growing some currently?

makes a better paintbrush than food source. would be hard to ship as the individual pieces drop to the ground from the fruit as they ripen.

have you had the chance to try them? how would you describe?

Hello all.

I've been dying to try the edible version of the hala/kewda fruit (orange flesh). I heard it tastes like a more dry-pumpkin with a subtle sweetness. I had the opportunity to see it in hawaii but it was unripe.

Would anyone happen to have access to one of these? If so, will pay whatever you think is fair + shipping. I realize this is a bigger ask, but just let me know!

Well have you tried the fruit .
I live in florida and I actually enjoyed the flavor but I heard that it might have different flavors if grown by seed.

do you have access to the fruit?

Hey hey,

Been really keen on trying this fruit before potentially attempting to grow it. If anyone is growing the fruit or can point me in a specific direction, would love to buy a small sample amount!

There are some retailed fruit growers who have it, but they don't ship to california.

Thanks in advance!
