I have some loquat cuttings for sale since I need to cut back the branches. The cuttings will be from hardened green wood, diameter will range from 1/4"-3/8", length will be 6-7" to fit into USPS small flat rate box.

I have the following loquat cuttings for sale:

Only take paypal for payment.
Sales for US, lower 48 states.
Seller has option to refuse to sell to anyone.

These cuttings can not be rooted so if you don't have a rootstock to graft then don't buy it.

I am a beginner with grafting. Is it still good time to graft loquat in SoCal?

Probably not for beginners. You should practice your grafting skills before you waste your money. Wait until spring after you practiced the basic skills of grafting. Spring is probably the best for any fruit tree grafting to be more successful.

But if you know how to graft, then it can be done anytime for loquats...

Just for my information, are the scions sold wrapped in some type of tapes to preserve freshness?

No, I don't need to wrap them in parafilm since I keep them moist with paper towel in plastic baggies when I ship it.
Since you're in CA, no issue with shipment time, it would reach you in 1-2 days (ship priority mail only). But when you purchase loquat scions, you need to immediately open the package and put them in the refrigerator if you want them fresh for a week before you graft. After 1 week, I wouldn't use the scion cuttings, may not be fresh for grafting.

I got very nice quality scions from this seller and grafted onto my tree few weeks ago. They survived close to 100 deg F with 80% of them took. One branch even started flowering.. And this was my first time grafting loquat. <br />

Ckitto, excellent job on your grafting !

Nice to see the scions are already growing out. I like your tree with all those branches, did you cut the main trunk to get those multiple new branches to graft onto? My large Big Jim tree has similar behavior on the trunk which is funny since I never cut off the trunk to force any new branches from the bottom root area. Good thing it has so many branches then you can make a cocktail multi-grafted tree. My tree has 69 varieties (over 100 grafts) and still has more branches that I can use to add new varieties.

One recommendation on the scions you graft for next time is maybe not to use to long cuttings, I would make my scions shorter than what you did, but as long as its growing you are doing a good job of it. I try to keep my scion under 8" long max for my grafting of any fruit tree...

Yes...My tree was 20 ft tall and was cut down leaving 2ft of the main trunk so it gives me new shoots for ease of grafting. Please keep the goodies coming. I will need your scions again in near future

I graft loquat year round as well. Not for inexperienced grafters though. Everything you said is spot on! No need to use such larger scions. 2 to 3 buds is plenty. Its so honest of you as a seller to let your buyers know that. I do the same when selling scions and I also add extra. I would like to buy from you this spring. I have a Big Jim with 3 China Doll grafts on it. I would like to add more

Ckitto, yes by next spring I should have many more different varieties to share/sell to those interested in growing loquats, I love the fruits.
I'm so surprised that this year most (90%) of my new varieties that I grafted on my Big Jim tree are growing well and have flowers already so I should be able to do a good taste test comparison of various varieties everyone talks about next year. Only missing maybe 5-10 varieties that I have heard about. According to Adam (Viking Guy), he did a research of the different varieties around the world and he found a 150 different named varieties. I think I will stop at 100 varieties on one tree that is enough for me...

Willthomas76, I'm so glad you commented on this thread. I have been looking some someone with China Doll to add to my collection. When your grafted branches grow a little, maybe next spring, I would love to buy/trade 2 cuttings from you tree. This would give me 70 total varieties when I get the China Doll. Seems to be getting harder to find any variety that I don't already have. I have China White so maybe if you're interested in a trade for that one (I hear they may be similar taste) let me know...
