Fort Lauderdale/Cecropia?
« on: November 11, 2021, 02:09:25 PM »
Hello,

I have been dying to try gummy worm fruit/cecropia for a long time. I currently reside in california, but will be having a 4 hour layover tomorrow in fort lauderdale Fl. I know cecropia grows all over FL and this is the closest I am able to get to trying the fruit. Does anyone have any advice or tips on where I could possible find it? Either in the wild or a grower?

Any help or tips will be great

ps. only a 4 hour layover but im willing to do what I can to grab some. I would even be willing to buy some if anyone in the area has.

Thanks :)

You should have postponed your flight for a day or two in order to check out the Fruit and Spice Park as well as Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. The fruit stand "Robert is Here" located near-ish to Miami may have them occasionally.

He does? Do you think cecropia would even make it to california? Seems to be so fragile.
If he has it in stock, I might try to quickly B-line during the lay over to grab it. Shot him a DM. But we shall see. Fingers crossed!

Any other leads would be amazing!

Thanks!

0% chance Cecropia fruit will ship normally not to mention with the delays the post office have normalized now.

For what it is worth, I think they taste more like a cross between fig and honeydew melon. Texture and taste is not like a gummy worm. They do kinda look like one, though.
