Here's a question for you all--
It's rumored that Lychee doesn't do well in the hot dry summers inland, and that one should plant Longan instead.
What is the secret to Lychee growing for those in Inland SoCal with the multiple week 100 degree high's? I like Lychee more than Longan so I'd like to try if it's not a tall order.

Brad if I understand correctly the Maluma was discovered growing in a Hass Grove in south Africa , appears the farmer thought it had good potential that's how the ball got rolling, still very slow to get popular in Cali, other countries it's more popular in., But back to your ? Unlikely from a Gwen so if found in a Hass orchard my thought would be a chance seedling closely related to a Hass mother tree.

I haven’t heard of any success in growing this fruit in SoCA with a few possible exceptions. Would still love to taste it based on K-Rimes experience in El Salvador
My supposed Kaimana lychee kept one singular lychee. Picked this up from California Tropical Fruit Tree in vista. Once it’s ripe I’ll see if it’s a true Kaimana or not. Anybody else have opinions?
Been using Langbenite on my dragon fruits with great success. My manila mangos split like crazy to the point of never eating a fruit. How much water is needed for a trunk diameter of 9" or so? I have four 2gal/hour drippers spread around the tree along with a sprayer for the lemongrass next to the tree. Drip system runs twice a week at 30 minutes each and once at 20 minutes. so effectively 10ish gallons per week?
Should I scratch a handful of Langbenite into the soil at each dripper and let it go a few time a year?
Always enjoy seeings Brads property. Get me excited about what I can expect in several more years.
