Didn't know my home country had an endemic Annona, I gotta have it. If you know anyone with a tree or access to one, please let me know. I just wish I knew how to ship seeds from JA to Florida

I think its pretty extremely rare. Your best bet maybe contacting someone at UWI  or one of the fruit collectors in JA.
There is an Italian Annona collector on TFF that may know if it’s been sourced at all.

A way to find such rare species is by searching virtual herbariums then it has a picture dried leaves and sometimes fruit. it will describe the species and sometimes tell at what time of the year they fruit. they also have an exact location most of the time. so one could find the one with the latest date and visit in person(not always safe) but i do plan to do this where i live, dominican republic.

What you can do is to try to find a geographic coordinate in one of those pics(can't find it) if not maybe contact one of the collectors if they're still alive.

Yep not sure if it will align with the fruit's season, but possibly. There is an interesting ethnobotanical conference there at the end of May. Hoping to get more familiar with the caribbean and of course indulge in tropical fruits

I first heard about Annona jamaicensis, as well as Annona praetermissa, Jamaica's other endemic Annona species, from an article a couple of years ago in the Jamaica Observer, "Scientists ask public for help in locating two endemic fruit-bearing plants." Biologist Damion Whyte was attempting to locate these species, to establish where exactly their remaining habitat is and how many are left. I think someone posted the link here on the forum when the article was posted a couple of years ago. The site's search function being what it is, I could not find it again. But, I always save articles like that to my computer, in case the link dies or the story is deleted. You cannot rely on something staying online forever.

Wow! I was unaware of this species. I know the species name applies to the country it is endemic to, but it shares the name with my first hunting partner, Buteo jamaicensis, the red tailed hawks. Before my main passion became growing rare fruits, it was growing psilocybin mushrooms, before that it was growing Cannabis, and before all my botanical passions in my life my msim passion was falconry... my first red tailed hawk was named "Bella", which is why I'm trying to track down Manilkara bella seeds/plants...
It's interesting how our past and present interests influence the one another.

Now I need this Annona sp....
