Seems like both are excellent taste wise, however Cecilove has a more manageable growth habit.

M4 could be called:

Mr. Coconut
Coconut Extreme
Coconut Dream

I'm finally gearing up to get things in ground next spring, essentially having spent the last year sampling fruit, getting small trees, and prepping my yard. I have space for four medium-large trees, and two small-medium left in my garden plan. I know I don't need to fill every spot I've mapped immediately, but I'm kind of a plan twice dig once gardener. So now that this year's mango season is wrapping up does anyone have recommendations for what to look into sampling/buying next year beyond what I already have?

This is what I already have (or have on order):

Buttercream
Cecilove
Coconut Cream
Dwarf Hawaiian
Fruit Punch
Harvest Moon
Honey Kiss
Ivory
Little Gem
Mun Kun Si
Nam Doc Mai #4
Orange Sherbet
Pickering
Pina Colada
Seacrest/Triplesec
ST Maui
Sugarloaf
Sweet Tart
Zill M-4
Zill P-22
Zill 3-18 'Honey'
Zill 40-17
Zill 40-26

So far Carla, Peach Cobbler, and Venus are on a short list for possible additions. Ones I tried and for sure didn't enjoy were PPK, Guava (Sein Ta Lone), Irwin, and Zill.

I'm also growing non-mangos (loquat, sugar apple, sapodilla, jaboticaba, mulberry, persimmon, banana, figs, etc) but I'm rather particular about food textures so I'm afraid I'm not as adventurous on that front.

Nice list there! What does buttercream taste like??  No love for carrie?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Colder than normal winter in Florida 22/23?

Tricky question, those that have trees blooming at this stage would prefer warmer winter, otherwise a nice cold winter would be appreciated.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Beverly mango yay or nay?
« on: September 15, 2022, 02:09:47 PM »
Hello folks, is Beverly a good mango choice for a backyard?

The tree has some good traits, late season, compact and a reliable producer.  But is it easily affected by BBS and rotting?

Has Beverly done well in South Florida over the years?
Anyone with experience with this cultivar?

Thanks

17
Yes, I already have smaller trees in mind.
Thank you!

Hello there friends, what would be the best way to use this space of land to plant some mango trees?

Here is a picture of the land, it has a slope so it drains well.

I have already planted another mango tree next to the other one and it is 15 feet apart.
I can plant some at the top near the fence as well.

What would you recommend to maximize this area for cultivars?

Thanks

How was the M4 taste?  Can you please describe it?

I’d have to say sweet tart…cac was pretty good also but some tasted bad it just depended on ripeness
Honey kiss hit well
As well as m-4 probably my favorite one although not sweet as sweet tart

Hahahaha I know man, weird but to each its own way.  ;D

Mango manor said Fruit Cocktail.
Who's "mango manor?"  Never mind.  I found his YouTube channel.  He puts rocks around his trees.  That's weird.

Yes, I know taste is very subjective... however I did also ask about the tree growth habit and its productivity.

Thanks John about that info.
