I felt extremely nauseous shortly after eating it... I wonder if there are a lot of tannins in the skin I get a similar effect if I drink black tea on an empty stomach.

Maybe a bad idea

After eating a big piece of fruit I also feel nauseous, but I think it is because of the sugars that blast my blood sugar to the sky.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Persian Mulberry Fruits - in SoCal
« on: January 30, 2024, 12:11:12 PM »
I have the Persian Mulberry  direct from Alex Silber of Papaya tree nursery.
The fruits are tart/sour/sweet. They are very different from other mulberrys. I was suppose to be a dwarf, but it was nothing like a dwarf growing over 20 feet and 15 feet wide. I decided to take down the tree from my main home for that reason and because the birds would leave me absolutely none.
I did however air layer two and have them planted in the Antelope Valley where they don't grow as vigorous and the fruit are a bit smaller.

I have a few grafted trees I won't be using. They are small (2-2.5' tall) but in 15 gallon (three year old). Rainbow, Bonita Springs, Walton. I am near LAX. reyn66@gmail.com

The real Mark Lee is no scammer. I've gotten bud wood from him in two occasions.

The best scion exchange compared to the others I attend. I still attend others to support them, plus I might find something that I don't already have.
I think I have over 25 different scions that I will share this even. So you all there.

I DM'd you a few weeks ago regarding some budwood. I don't know if maybe you stopped the sale or just ran out?

I wouldn't rule out dropping a big bag of ice on the base of the tree during cold nights. Especially if it's only 1-3 trees.

My tree is small and has stayed small

I got an aravaipa direct from Arizona. It also grew very slow. I assumed because it was grafted in florida on florida rootstock. I grafted onto a mexicola grande and the graft took off. I am hoping it will fruit this coming winter.

This is a weed in my yard. It grows everywhere and takes over the canopy of smaller trees. In the Summer I have a hard time keeping up with it.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Is a black sapote tree worth having?
« on: July 06, 2022, 11:36:13 AM »
As with all my delicate plantings. I keep mine in pots and move them around (a year or two). After this initial "tryout", It then decides where the best place to thrive.
The cold hits my BSapote and kills off a few branches, but now has a happy home snuggled between a few nurse trees for protection.

I've had a dropped fruit from that tree. The taste: sweet yam, maple syrup, peacans, with the texture more on the egg yolk side (doent taste like egg.)

I am going to have to ask you for a cherilate/cherimoya in the near future. Cool yard BTW.

I’m in Hollywood area and I’m really hoping to find a public fruiting Inga to get a pod so I can eat and grow the seeds. I know of one in San Diego but I don’t plan on going that far. If any generous people would gift me a pod I would really appreciate that or I’d be willing to buy them too. I’d love to see a mature fruiting tree though

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Contest: Largest Loquat Fruit for 2022
« on: April 07, 2022, 01:53:31 PM »
Big Jim.
My tree produced only 1/4 of what it did last year. Last year I was eating loquats from this tree from late February into March.
The size of these is an average. There maybe smaller and maybe slightly bigger.

My Fairchild Canistel has been in the ground for close to seven years. And I had the same issue. Many flowers but no fruit set.
Then I saw someone on the interweb mention pinching the flowers one at a time (not too hard of a pinch). Maybe it was a coincidence, but I have at least 100 marble-sized fruits and multiples on a single branch. Give it a try, it wouldn't hurt.

The Fruit and Spice has a Smathers that I thought was pretty fkn good. And it was a nice size too.

I have cocktail tree with saijo, chocolate, honan, giant, fuyu, that fruit for me every year. The fuyu is a beast at producing as well as the honan. The saijo produces a few on its lone branch, but huge fruits. The giant fuyu its  great producer as well. The chocolate produces the least (maybe 6-12 each year) but produces thousands of male flowers that pollinate the rest of the tree. The tree is near Spacex.

Good stuff indeed.

Also looking forward to the Spice Zee Nectaplum!

There are better varieties. Spice zee is a beautiful tree with beautiful looking fruit. But the taste is not show-off with

I sprouted five CH17 and are 16" tall now.
I have no luck growing jackfruit, and I dont expect any better with these seedlings. But you never know.

24
I grafted coyo on a avocado rootstock earlier this year. And I recently got chucte seeds from Oscar. I am hoping they too sprout so I can regraft that coyo onto its own seedling for safe keeping.

Every scion/cutting that I have received from Kaz has taken. His material are clean and they make it in an orderly fashion. I will buy more in the future for sure.
