Eat it now! As soon as any yellow shows should be ready, with more green should be firmer and maybe tangy. The more yellow, the more mushy and snotty.

+1 for starapple/caimito. Beautiful tree, deep green leaves with bronze underside, and nice growth habit.

Quite a collection of trees for sure, that's not typical.

Carambola is a pretty tree.

...and I was excited about 2 fruiting, lol.

Great job!

All my trees have little loafs popping up everywhere.

Glad Simon cleared that one up. I'm not one to read the instructions very well, if at all.

Judging by the many little fruit set on my grafted section, Venus is setting like no other in my yard. No way it will hold all of them, but excellent thus far. A nice later season mango as well.

He has mango and avocado scions. Top notch seller.

That's a good question. It's hard to find decent sized pepper plants.

I have 4 nice sized scotch bonnet plants that started from seed a couple of months ago. Glad I started early.

There is a guy down in South Miami, he goes by "Wicked Mike." Grows and sells obscure pepper plants, passiflora, and other neat stuff. Lmk if you can't find them up your way and want to get his contact info.

Awesome video. I've seen a video of this technique before, but didn't see the end result. Now I get it. They have solved the problem of mango being a poor air layer specimen.

Thanks for the info. Seems yours has really settled in, hope the others follow suit soon!

Mine (3 years in ground) is around that size, but not getting 20+lbs. Well done.

Wow, that cooler looks nice!

What are you going to do with all of them?

Also, what size and how old is your tree? Trying to get an idea of the production I should be seeing from my trees?

I guess one could measure the powder, per a 0.2% concentration of the future spray mix, but place it initially in a small amount of warm water for a few hours, perhaps with blackstrap molasses to work on.  Blackstrap is also a traditional micronutrient source.

To activate baker's yeast, get a cup of warm water (110 F) and sprinkle yeast on top. Following Har's recommendation, probably would be good to add blackstrap molasses (1 teaspoon) at this time. Yeast feeds on sugar. Wait 15 minutes, and should be ready. Then mix in the kelp, wetting agent, and water to make a gallon of spray.

Seems it would work well with pawpaw. I sprayed avocado flowers recently, going to hit them again in a week or so. My avocado tree (oro negro) flowered for first time last year, held fruit for a while, then dropped all fruit. Hoping for better results this year. Tree is 100% in bloom.

I was a little confused by the paper as well. What I've done, as per Simon, is the use the following per gallon of water:

1 teaspoon of yeast

1 - 2 tablespoons of kelp extract

1/2 teaspoon of coco wet.

I've been spraying everything with it, and plants are responding positively. One of my dwarf coconut palms had leaves that were yellowing, coloring up nicely after one spraying. Hitting the mango flowers with it, and getting good fruit set. Probably just a coincidence, but pineapples started flowering a couple of weeks after being sprayed.

Thinking of spraying my kids.

Homestead Guanabana usually bears yearly, but as Capt has reported, gets thrown off by hurricanes.  Dropped fruit during Irma, and has taken till now for new fruit to form. Also, seems to need fertilization and hand pollination to produce well.

Wonder if this might help?

Simon had posted this in another thread. Kelp with yeast foliar spray evidently helps with fruit set and quality. I've sprayed my flowers on Glenn, NDM4, Venus, and Coco Cream. All have little fruits now.

Wouldn't miss it, lots of fun with the family.

Any excuse to goto Fairchild is worth it.

Seems we could help them out with the mango selection. If forum members pulled together, Mango Fest would be amazing.

Guten abend!

I lived in Heidelberg, for 3 years, in the late 70's/early 80's. Remember considerable snowfall there during the winter months. Has that changed? Seems plants as far north as Heidelberg would need to be frost tolerant.

Wonderful!

I like how you are creating an understory for your trees. Mixing plants is a great idea. I've added mints and others that tend to ward off some pests. Seems monoculture is destined to be problematic. Once pests find their food source, it is game on for them.

Is that Thai pepper an actual pepper plant (skinny red peppers when ripe)? Looks different than the thai pepper I've grown.

I'm growing a large unknown in-ground, maybe Sabara, with Grimal grafted on. Have medium Sabara and red hybrid in pots, and a small-medium vexator. The large and the red flower and fruit well. Looking forward to happy days!

Grafted Venus on Coconut Cream. The CC is more vigorous thus far, but both are flowering nicely. Gotta keep an eye on it so CC doesn't take over. I like CC more, but wanted Venus for a potentially later variety.

Sweet Tart on Kesar is doing well and seem to be growing at similar rates to each other.

OS and Maha on Nam Doc Mai 4 are growing well and appear in balance with each other. Want to add more OS and Maha scions after harvest, or maybe something else.

As the grafts are top-worked onto a large tree, it is actually optional to go ahead and let them fruit.  The graft and flower stem will thicken up as needed while the fruit develops.  Then you can get the regular post-harvest vegetative growth.

Are you saying that new grafts from over the summer may already be able to handle fruit?
