Never tasted a Maha.

Galatians, thanks!  Honestly though i didn't try anything recently to help it flower.
Month ago? i put gypsum, k, sprayed kelp, oil for sooty mold & scale, never ends lol.

And today, looking at flowers i noticed north side of Kent has a panicle purple from powdery mildew!
Sprayed whole tree with ag citrus, avo, mango stuff, less then 1/2oz per gallon cause many flowers open, see tomorrow if helped.  Has sulfur in it so figured i'd try easy 1st.

Keep an eye out ya'll for powdery mildew.  Get that sulfur on.

Peach cobbler has tiny panicles starting here & there :)

Thanks all, i won't apply it.  I'll snap off a few new growths i don't want growing & see if it flowers.  Noticed some new flushes have 1 future looking panicle growing out it's side.

Edit- finger hit post before im finished..
I do plan on more 0-0-52 & kelp.  Ok back to 2024 mango thread.
Kept this separate being it's more fert talk then tree progress.

Greater, ok.  Few weeks ago i did put 0-0-52, sprayed kelp, recently gypsum.
Timbo, yes watered all & mother nature.  Might be the variety because Phoenix next to it also flowering for 1st time but much more.
Alex might've said PC needs all it's needs met to flower.
I'll have to grow this yrs seeds & do trial next yr.

M4 2nd yr flowering.  Almost every tip top to bottom has flowers starting.
Photo in pot May 2021!  These things grow quick.

Pug, a garden hose sprayer can shoot 20' or more to combat anthracnose with copper.  That's what i've been using on old Kent.

Har, thank you sir.  Sprayed it and others with mineral oil after watching one of your great TT vids about Scale.  Also educated me why i got black stuff all over same tree and why mostly lower leaves & branches.

This is effect of mineral oil (middle range of oz/gal).  Repeated few times, used water weeks later & psi washed gently, garden hose, best i could without blowing leaves off heh.  No harm, used my head.
Photos last month, since then it came back some but flowers are starting fingers crossed.

I'm learning too but as you said, Pickering selling point's resistance to those things.

I can comment on Pickering.  Last yr 1st time flowered (was small 3 gal in ground 2yrs) and zero problems.  See photo, couple dozen fruit.
Picked off yellow pea sized fruits that weren't healthy is about it.   I do fertilize.

Thanks all, interesting from plain water to milk.
Water i'm assuming requires most frequent applications.  Pollen hande it?
Milk interesting.
Wonder if smelly Kelp has enough sulfur.  Would be easy in hose sprayer & vitamins boost.
I hear Har saying try each on a branch.

Like to know if anything else, such as mineral oil helps or hurts?
Label on one i have lists powdery mildew on mango.
Been using it for black stuff covering peach cobbler leaves & it's working

Edited- did it to get to the point.

Kona, wow!  Congrats & i wish you good luck!
You'll be great knowledge for us wondering about disease resistance, anthracnose, powdery mildew, production, growth habit ect among varieties.

Question- is hillside tarp to keep unwanted weeds & such away?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: water temp 100+
« on: October 14, 2023, 01:38:10 PM »
Skeptical 100F water temp unless it was a puddle.
My pool was no where near that warm.  Actually, with all the rain it was cooler then last yr.  Barely felt 89-90F more then a couple times.
Looking at it right now wishing it was warmer!  :)

Peach Cobbler.  Branch wet from peroxide mix.  Most of tree looks clean with mild anthracnose.
3 parts water 1 part regular peroxide did nothing, no fizz or steam.  Black rubs off with effort.
I have bifenthrin & copper, used neither yet.
Thank you,

Hammer, i don't know any varieties to suggest.  I don't even know what mine are heh.  Came with the house 20yrs ago & i thought it was some tropical big leaf thing till it flowered.  Glad i didn't cut it down :)
Best, ok.  Yes more K then N.
I started giving mine some attention before rainy season ends.  Been a few yrs since i had some to eat.  Concentrated on mangos.

Very nice.  Mine are getting more attention after getting neglected for the past 3yrs.  Planted 8 mango trees.
What do you put on them?  6-3-16 with micros i used, worked quite well, no idea what variety, super sweet, smaller then store bought.

I don't click on anything or understand what you mean by fake clickbait fruit.
Your eyes are better then mine lol.  I'd love to believe it but unless someone here did it, i won't.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Happy donut day

Mango ice cream or froz yogurt's easy.
Go healthy frozen yogurt & your froz mango pieces in blender.

As a kid i loved chocolate glazed creme filled donuts.
Jelly donuts were great too.

I don't see mango & donut in same space.  But then i never had home grown mango jelly filled chocolate covered donut.  Hmm...

I'd rather enjoy this years mango experience all over again lol.
I need a donut.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: How many people eat mango skin?
« on: August 09, 2023, 07:47:59 PM »
This is 1st yr for me eating some skins.
Got the idea watching the great Har do so in TT video with M4 & family in India doing so with Cogshall.
1st i eat the slice of flesh, and then as i'm scraping the skin clean with teeth if it breaks, i chew it.  If it's good, keep chewing :)

I did it with those 2 + Pickering & a couple Kents.  Not all of the mentioned are always tasty.  I guess like how i ate a dozen m4, pickering, 6 cogshall & 4 dozen kents & almost none where exactly the same.  Try skin on more then one of even the same fruit.  I froze some slices with skin on.
