Nov 1st Santa Barbara Rare Fruit Presentation
« on: October 25, 2023, 06:20:21 PM »
I will be presenting at the SB Horticultural Society about rare fruits on Nov 1st at 7pm next week. It's free. Most members of TFF will recognize everything I'm talking about and be bored, but figured I'd mention it anyhow if someone were in the area and wanted to check it out.

Very awesome! How did you get on their radar?

Iíve been attending their presentations for several months. Really quality stuff, honestly. It is a hidden gem in town. Itís been operating since 1891, and they desperately need younger members and especially board members, Iíve been helping them on the back end as well.

Didnít have a speaker lined up for November so I said Iíd do up something.

Any chance it is being Zoomed?

Historically they havenít, the church doesnít like us very much and doesnít offer their WiFi. Iíll see if I can pull something together but I know just getting projector to work will be a lot!

This stuff is never boring to us even the parts we know or have heard before!  The church doesn't like you very much?  ???  Not very Christian of them.

Yes, I'll be bringing in from home some pitangatuba, dragonfruit, pitangas, a few jabo, durian (not homegrown of course!), and anything else I can find at the Farmer's Market this weekend.

Yeah, honestly, I don't really get their deal. They are restricting how many tables we can use (1!), fees are going up substantially, they are SUPER anal about any dirt while at the same time not cleaning it well before we show up. They tolerate the Hort Society, at best.

Sounds like fun, I'll try to make it! My Orange Sherbet mangos won't be ripe by then but I can chip in a few Nazemetz pineapple guavas.

Congrats man. I just wish it wasn't 150 miles away on a Wednesday night. Will it be live streamed or recorded?

Better to wait for the get together at my house, pizza and fruit > hort meeting.
