Copernicia Baileyana PALM
« on: November 14, 2023, 03:28:10 PM »
It's not a fruit tree, but is anyone growing it?  It's a beautiful fan palm from Cuba, but the only place I've ever seen it is at Fairchild.  My son was at Fairchild last weekend, and I asked him if he saw the Baileyanas.  He found a lady in Satellite Beach who sells them, so he's going to plant one at his new house in Melbourne.  He's on his way to becoming a gardener!

I'm growing Copernicia gigas, from seed  :D

Several Copernicia species are majestic palms, but very slow growing... I've told my kids (primary school) that I'm growing a palm they can enjoy when they enter retirement  ;D

Is this a tropical fruit forum or a palm forum?!

There's a Bailey Palm in Naples Botanical Gardens we admire when we visit.

And I'm getting me an Old Man Palm for Christmas.

But this ain't a palm forum, right?!

🤣

Edible fruiting palms I'm trying to grow:

Coconut
Cliff Date Palm
And I just planted a seed of Astrocaryum murumuru
