The Eugenia pyriformis, commonly known as uvaia, produces lovely fruit with an enjoyable flavor profile. It has notes of mandarin orange and apricot, along with subtler hints that are difficult to pin down but leave you with an impression of freshness and complexity.

The uvaia fruit has juicy flesh and a moderate sweetness that is pleasant but not cloying. It makes for a refreshing, balanced snack or addition to a platter. The texture is vibrant but not mushy, with a good chew and refreshing burst of juice with each bite.

For those who appreciate high-quality, fresh-picked produce with real flavor, the uvaia can be a wonderful discovery. At their sale price, uvaia also make an affordable luxury.

For lovers of subtly memorable tastes, textures that delight, and the pleasure of eating seasonal food at its prime, the uvaia deserves attention and acclaim. When you see them on offer, don’t pass up the chance to experience their soft beauty and quiet flavor thrill for yourself.

It is loaded with antioxidants (some even call it the camu camu of the Atlantic forest!) and has a strong flavor that is a mix between grapefruit and guava - both sweet and tangy. It must be harvested when fully ripe. The leaves of the arazá-una can be used to make a delicious and medicinal tea. This elegant shrub is also cold-hardy, able to withstand temperatures as low as -3°C.

For the first time, we have the honor of offering a very difficult to find Argentine species!: Ximenia americana, also known as Alvarillo del Campo or "damasquito serrano", is a small tree or bush. The tree is known for its resemblance to the apricot fruit in size, shape, color and taste. The fruit has a pleasant apricot-like flavor, making it a delicious addition to jams and preserves. In Cordoba, Argentina (where we got the fresh seeds from 3 different sources), this species is severely threatened by the human and is almost extinct.

The tree is known for its hardiness and ability to thrive in different environments, it is capable of growing in different soil types, and can tolerate drought and heat. This makes it a suitable tree for restoration and conservation efforts, especially in areas where water is scarce. The seeds are easy to germinate (soak for 4 days in water), and the tree is known to have medicinal properties. In addition, the tree's wood is fragrant and can be used for woodworking.

In conclusion, Ximenia americana is a unique and valuable tree species that is facing extinction in Argentina. Its seeds are an important resource for conservation and restoration efforts, and its fruit has potential for commercial use. The tree's beauty, its apricot-like flavor and its rusticity make it a valuable addition to any botanical garden or nature reserve. We strongly recommend the acquisition of Ximenia americana seeds for those interested in preserving this unique tree species.

More info:

* Fragrant wood and medicinal properties, the leaves are used for stomach ailments.
* Drought-tolerant and heat-resistant, can survive in harsh climates and conditions.

About Araçá Açú:

Araçá Açú is the Tupi Guarani name meaning “big fruit with eyes,” referring to the persistent sepals that look like eyelashes.
It is endemic to the savannas and rocky fields of Minas Gerais state in Brazil.
This rare and little-known species was discovered in Helton's expeditions by 2018.
It is a medium-sized evergreen tree reaching 5 meters tall, with multiple trunks, gray-brown bark, and a rounded canopy.
The leaves are thick, leathery, and oblong. White, fragrant flowers are 2.5 cm across.
The fruit is a round, yellow berry 4-5 cm in diameter with a indented crown at the apex and persistent sepals. The pulp is white, sweet and tart, amazing taste similar to a blend of guava, pineaple and pear, surrounding 8-12 cream-colored seeds.

Cultivation tips:

Araçá Açú adapts to various climates and soils. It can grow from sea level up to 1000 m altitude, with 600-1800 mm of rain per year.

It will produce fruit 3-4 years after planting.
Seeds germinate in 35-55 days. Seedlings should be kept in shade for 3 months after transplanting.

Uses:

The fruit can be eaten fresh, but avoid the large seeds.
The small, evergreen tree is good for urban landscaping under power lines.
The beautiful trunk and white flowers make it decorative for small gardens. The fruit attracts birds.

Today I was talking with a woman who knows the trees of the Giant Sete Capotes and she gave me new information: they are different from the normal arboreal Sete Capotes. This variety with large fruit comes from small bushes, and the fruit crown has a yellowish tint that the others don't have... We think that it is a very different variety from the normal one, maybe even another species.
