Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Euterpe Edulis

Are you asking which varieties produce fruit? All juçara varieties produce fruit that can be used to make açaí. I live where the orange crown version is native and it produces fruit after 5-7 years in the forest.
Thank you for the clear answer Are the seeds for longer viable?

Any idea how to remove the shell?

I use vise grips to get it started then the rest pull off by fingers (hurt fingers though)

The fibers kind of run longways across the seed and you can sort of peel it as you would a banana.

Most of the ones I've decorticated have a little tab kind of thing that makes it easier to get it started.
How deep you get by removing the layers? Until you see the embryo?

What is the best way to germinate m. americana seeds after your experience?

Unfortunately, I do not currently have fresh seeds available. I have small plants, but shipping is only possible within the EU.
Hi
Plants list and prices?

13
Definitely i am interested in this order and for the most of species!
But winter is comming and germination is difficult almost impossible. Would suggest the spring is the best time for such an order
Thanks

To compare
My Thai seedling flowered for the first time this year after 10 years and some small fruits are forming now. Also fruits are forming on my grafted branch with Makok variety in the same seedling after 4 years.

19
Thank you, that sounds great! But I am still unsure how it is with shipping seeds from countries outside of the EU into the EU. It seems that if the seeds do not have phyto certificate, they will be sent back?
I had big problems importing seeds outside EU

20
In my area, island of Crete, they grow very well all over the island, but the trees set fruit only in very west part where i live. The pollinators are the same.

21
My huble opinion : during flowering there must be a combination of different factors like temperature, humidity and present of insects for pollination

22
Can one make 10 with 3 seeds each of two varieties and balance 4 from other variety
Same here

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Df varieties?
« on: November 03, 2020, 12:31:05 PM »
I have 2 df varieties labeled as George and Oung Ong. I can't find any information about them

That's likely George from the late George Emerich who was a prominent CRFG member.  It's a white flesh variety, very sweet, but not a Vietnamese variety.  I believe it is neither self fertile nor self compatible.

As for Quang Ong variety, it may be QOSF, also known as Quang Ong Self Fertile, which was later renamed as American Beauty.  Magenta flesh, self fertile and self pollinating.  However, he grows a lot of different varieties.

Hope this helps.
Thank you for the valuable infos

Is this 15 minutes or seconds for the hydrogen peroxide ?
Right now i'm soaking them in water for 2-3 days ,pryor planting .
15 min max. soaking in 3% hydrogen peroxide You can find it in pharmacies. Lucky you can find such a kind of fruits there. Here i never have seen them in grocery stores
