Delicously sour sweet fruits.

Annona sericea.
Small fruit, sweet and edible, I quite like it.
Fruit appeared at 1.5m height so they fruit early.

Terminalia kaernbachii, Okari nut
Delicious seed, huge edible portion for a tree nut. Seed is sweet and milky, I rate it as the best tasting tree seed that I have tasted. Shell is tough and they are collected of the ground since they don’t get damaged when falling.

Gustavia superba, Heaven Lotus tree
Could be Gustavia augusta, I am not sure since they are quite similar from my research. Not to experienced with Gustavia yet.
The yellow/orange flesh that comes of the seed in a string is very delicious, dried cheddar cheese reminds me of this fruit. It’s a new favourite. And the flower is spectacular.

In my experince they are self fertile.
Seeds seem to store dry quite well so should survive shipping well.

Hey Raul,
I picked the fruits when they where green.
I still don't know exactly when to pick them as some fruits that I picked had white immature seeds and some mature seeds. Maybe they can dehydrate on the tree?

Then I let them sit for 1-2 weeks until I can easily break up the skin. The flat part of the skin on the end of the fruit tastes similar as the flesh that is attached to the seeds. And the inside peel is tasty too even though it's fibrous.

Have you tried them? Or other similar species?
IMO the flavor is better then ackee, avo, dabai and safou. But the yield is so low that all over it's not better then the four i mentioned. I haven't tasted great dabai so maybe Dabai is better in flavor.

If the seeds are black and plump the gustavias should be alright. The fruit get pretty big and spherical. There is another species council plants around the streets in Cairns.

They still haven't germinated but some have changed the inside color from white to green.

Do you think superba and augusta are synonymous species?
