How is Nameiwa compared to other varieties?
-
I assume this is the same type called Meiwa in US? Fortunella crassifolia?
-
I assumed from the name that this was a hybrid of nagami and meiwa kumquat. Information on the web seems to confirm this.

oh, wasn't aware. A cross between these two types sounds good to me.

I hadn't heard of it either before this thread. I really prefer Meiwa over Nagami for fresh eating.

If you want the advantage of Nameiwa over Meiwa then get a Marumi instead. Otherwise just get a Meiwa. Meiwa is not quite as cold hardy as either Nameiwa or Marumi and Nameiwa is not as hardy as Marumi so just go for the Marumi.

I use to have a Nagami but I got rid of it as I did not like the taste . Currently I have a Meiwa,, Fukushu, and Marumi. The best tasting in my opinion is the Meiwa.
