Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Pura Vida Avocado in S. Florida
« on: November 13, 2024, 02:03:20 AM »
Any updates on the Pura Vida tree/grafts?

If anyone has photos of the fruits on their tree, please post it, I'm interested in comparing it to my HI Russell avocado graft which should have fruits in another year.

Also, if you can take photos of your leaves that would be helpful. Thanks.

I'm interested in buying a few cuttings if you have them.

Yes, sorry about that. I always called the bottom hanging end the bottom of the fruit.
Yes, it looks like a navel orange to me. If it was a cocktail grapefruit, the leaves would be larger, and have a larger petiole.

Dan, if you have a brix meter (refractometer), can you take a brix reading of your ripe fruit.

Doesn't look like a cocktail grapefruit to me. It seems to have a navel on the bottom of the fruits. Can you take a photo of the fruit looking from the bottom angle. If the fruits have navel, then most likely it will be one of the navel oranges. Also, the fruit flesh would be much more orange color than a cocktail grapefruit.

It could be a seedling tree?

After thinking about your new method, it might be a good one to try on some hard to graft fruit trees.

That's an interesting method, never seen that one. I usually don't have any issues with citrus, probably because I'm in SoCal. I don't think I had any citrus varieties that were difficult to graft. But maybe your method will give higher % of success if you only have 1 or 2 scions to work with and can't get any more.

Dan, your Xie Shan fruits look good but not ripe. You should wait until it turns completely yellow before you eat them. The early ones that are not fully ripe will not be as good.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Thai Ruby Guava seedless taste and rating?

Pau, for my taste, I really like the Indonesian Seedless guava. The person with the large fruiting tree told me you can eat the fruit crunchy (skin still green), or wait until it turns light yellow green and it will be softer. He gave me 3 fruits (ripe) to taste and they were excellent. The shape looks similar to the Honey seedless fruit photo above from Al.

ok, I see your fruits now, wow, very nice dark pink flesh. Your fruits are pretty large as well. Your files are *.avif so my old operating system didn't recognize it, but on my second computer I can see it using Chrome.

This is off topic, but I wanted to mention that a friend just gave me 3 fruits of the Indonesian Seedless and it tastes very good, no seeds.
I like it much more than other guavas I have tasted.

Kevin, how come I can't see the photos of your Barbie pink fruits? Is it just me or did it expire?
