Title: Growing Guarana in CA?
Post by: spaugh on September 06, 2018, 11:22:45 AM
Anyone growing guarana?  Can it be grown in CA?  I had a plant from Hawaii that showed up looking dead and never got better.  Considering ordering one from FL if it can grow here.

Guarana is generally self infertile so I would plant 3 individuals.  I have no idea about growing it in CA but it tolerates shade and would want humidity.  Needs a trellis.

From seed it is tough in CA. Peter is right, shade/semi shade and humidity. A gentleman in OR has a plant he purchased growing happily in his greenhouse.
