I’ll be in Hallandale, Florida mid June and I’m looking for the best places to buy fruit.
Can anyone recommend the best places to go within ~2 hours of hallandale?
Mostly interested in lychee varieties (sweetheart+ Mauritius) and mango varieties (orange Sherbert + any highly rated varieties).
Thank you!

For mangoes:
Hidden Acres in Davie
Tropical Acres in West Palm Beach
Zills Mangos in Boynton Beach
For lychees:
Lychee Fruit Store in Loxahatchee
I am sure there are places in Broward and Miami-Dade that sell lychees that I am not familiar with.
Mid June may be the tail end or just a bit late for Sweethearts.

Thank you! Is it true Zills is permanently closed? I couldn’t find any info/address on the Lychee Fruit Store, do they have a website?

check out "Robert is Here" in Homestead
-
Zills will be open for business in a week or two.

What site did you see them showing as permanently closed?
I just spoke to Verna. While they are not permanently closed they have no fruit at the moment and are not open yet. She also let me know they have very few fruit this year so I would call before going there as they may have no fruit or be by appointment only.

Google says temporarily closed, which they are as they are only open during mango season.
I dont see where Facebook says they are permanently closed. I know the site has not been updated since 2018 is not currently being updaated for business reasons.

Other places for mangos are Truly Tropical in Delray Beach. www.themangoplace.com (http://www.themangoplace.com) And Mango Men Homestead if you decide to drive south. www.facebook.com/mangomenhomestead (http://www.facebook.com/mangomenhomestead)

Go to a food town in Sterling Road a local supermarket in Davie, 20 minutes from Hallandale. They have fruits from all tropical countries.

Not sure what website that is but they are not permanently closed. In any event, I was talking with Walter last night and please call for availability and possible special appointment before going this season .

+1 to what Rob said, Verna stress to me to call before I come.
When you come I would also suggest asking here as well.
A lot of people have a decent crop this year and you might save a lot of driving around.

Everglades Farm, 19775 SW 296th Street, Homestead, FL. I purchased my "Tropic Sweet", and "Florida Grande" Peach trees there. GREAT selection of Tropicals....

And Truly Tropical is right down the street from them. No love for Chris Wenzel, guys?

I've had good experiences in the past but the crowds there are crazy during mango season. (which is great for her)
I would prefer to go during nonpeak times so i can select fruits in peace. Unfortunately, they are only open and select times
So I usually end up going to Walters or Alex if I'm up that far.
I need to try this Hidden Acre place too

FYI, while you're in the neighborhood, I highly recommend you check out the "Fruit & Spice Park" in Miami!
-
Try lycheesonline.com and Lara farms is shipping lychees ...I think I recall the Lara farms deal is 12$ per pound plus 10$ shipping (don’t quote me on that)

Are there any place that for sure has lychee varieties like sweetheart, mauritius, emperor, or no Mai Tzse?

In SEFla, you are probably going to be limited to Brewster.

Are the other ones out of season? I’ve tasted Brewster before so I’m trying to find the ones I haven’t had

Emperor is not out if season but not a lot of growers of it in this area. Its not a great producer here.
Sweetheart and The "Florida Hak Ip" are out if season here. You might find some straggler Mauritius but no guarantee and quality may not be great (my very least favorite).
You might want to try a ripe Florida grown Brewster to see how they compare to Cali grown.
