Citrus General Discussion / LLT lemon and LLT lime
« on: December 04, 2021, 08:07:18 PM »
I just wanted to give this man some recognition. I just had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Nair about his breeding projects. Such an interesting take and he showed me several successful plants and a great conversation packed full of knowledge. Heís working on other varieties as well. For one that really loves what he does. He is definitely an inspiration of mine for my future work, both professionally and as a hobby.

Citrus Buy, Sell, & Trade / Aus. Blood Lime (aka Red Centre lime) Budwood
« on: November 30, 2021, 07:25:13 PM »
Trade preferred for some interesting varieties! Doesn't have to be citrus, but if not, ones that will root well.

Sale for $15 for 4 sticks, $3 shipping

Note this is pretty thin budwood, as its very dwarf and bushy type, but an interesting variety not commonly sold in the states. Red Centre lime is not Australian red finger lime. They're round and smaller fruits getting a dark Burgundy color. I typically root these as cuttings and they do very well. I have three of those rooted now. The parent tree has fruited multiple times in the past and is currently blossoming.

same variety as this: https://www.citrusmen.com.au/shop/citrus-gems-byron-sunrise-44ewy-fj59t-szmlz-lwfy3-s2mnn-mpbxn

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / ISO coffee

ISO coffee beans to sprout! I know I can buy them off ebay, but prefer to buy directly from people here!

I just wanted to run this by a few more knowledgeable people than I.. I wanted to use the remainder of my cherry stone grit in my citrus containers but wanted to ensure there wouldnít be drawbacks. It is made of granite stone, no larger than that of turface/smaller pea gravel. Since itís an igneous rock, I know it has a high mineral content, but they tend not to leach unless in powdered form. Correct me if Iím wrong here?

Citrus General Discussion / Variegated section on Pink Finger Lime?
« on: September 29, 2021, 02:43:57 PM »
Just wondering what would cause this? Could it be an actual mutation or likely due to chemical treatment and will eventually die off? Just received from a nursery.

Would be cool if I could get this to grow and propagate it, but I fear itís unlikely.

Citrus General Discussion / Madison Citrus; the very finest
« on: September 15, 2021, 03:13:25 PM »
I donít normally do this, but I really feel this is well deserved. I wanted to throw another shoutout to Madison Citrus Nursery ran by a really down to earth guy, Hershell.

I just wanted to say, Iíve purchased thousands of dollars of trees from many vendors throughout the US like many of you had, yet in my opinion none compare to those of this quality for the price you pay. On top of that, he offers some crazy rare trees that no one else seems to! Heís just a guy that has an absolute passion for the hobby as we all do, but not out to gouge. I had the pleasure of talking with Hershell when I asked some questions about my trees I bought from him. I have his permission to share some pictures from his nursery about his plants and show that quality Iím talking about.

Heís got some cool stuff coming, various variegated varieties (those that are more uncommon), Red Finger Limes, Giant Finger limes, Amoa 8, and much more.

Hoping Laaz has these guys for sale again this fall.. just wanted to show off his variety! Less than 11 months from seed this guy is pushing flower buds. Truly is a Fast Fruiting Trifoliate.

I wonder if the F2 generation will contain the same qualities.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / ISO Mulberry cuttings to root
« on: June 22, 2021, 07:37:57 AM »
Hello all Iím just looking to get some mulberries. Looking for any varieties that are easier to root. I have quite a few citrus cuttings I can trade, otherwise Iíd be happy to pay via PayPal and postage.

14

A very impressive citrus, after only 1.5 years (under not so great conditions) from seed comes flowers. I heard this was true about this cultivar, just amazed to see it myself.

15
I recently got an aquaponics rooting system and Iíd like to try it out on several different types and trees to see what it can do. Currently I root some citrus with it. Iíd be interested in just about any fruit cutting that takes decently in soils, such as poms, mulberries, etc. I have lots of citrus to trade or Iíd be willing to buy via PayPal.

I have to trade (all cuttings!):

Red finger lime
Australian blood lime
Green finger lime

Murcott
Tiger (variegated) Navel
flying dragon

Nordmann seedless kumquat

Coming from WI, USA

Iím attempting something as Iíve seen it done in the past with calamondins and various lemons, that these guys rapidly rooted cuttings. I just got my hands on a cheap ďTurboKlone 24TĒ so I will try my luck with it for citrus, if not I do a lot of rare tomatoes I can still use it with.

Has anyone else ever rooted cuttings this way? I imagined it wouldnít have ever worked being how prone to rot and shock citrus typically are, but Iíve seen at least a few times being very successful. I plan to try on some finger limes and various lemons.

Cold Hardy Citrus / Flying Dragon Fruiting requirements?
« on: May 28, 2021, 02:50:49 PM »
Hello all! I recently got a nice flying dragon with a few fruits on it for rootstock use later on. I know trifoliates are deciduous, do they require a ďchill periodĒ such as other deciduous trees do in order to fruit? Or do they just fruit according to photoperiod (such as day length and temp rises)? Thereís not a whole lot of info out there! I attempted at some FDís last year however they died in the cold, leaving them outside during the winter too long and I donít want that to happen again! Thanks all.

Citrus Buy, Sell, & Trade / ISO Lemon cuttings
« on: March 23, 2021, 10:44:31 AM »
Just looking for any old lemon cuttings off of fruiting trees to root. Wanting to do something nice as a few gifts for people and just donít have the capacity to take lemon cuttings from my tree yet. I do have quite a bit to trade:

Cuttings from -

Fukushu kumquat
Nordmann seedless
Australian Blood Lime
Murcott mandarin
Regular green finger lime

I have very few and could spare some from:

Red Finger lime
Rangpur lime
Variegated Navel Orange (-cara cara aka Tiger Navel)

Or I am willing to buy cuttings outright. Shipping from Wisconsin.

20
As the title suggests! I will pay for scions or trade! I have lots of cool citrus cuttings I can take from such as finger limes, red finger, blood finger limes, variegated navel, murcott, various kumquats, bergamot orange, and more.

The dwarf pomegranate I have finally fruited and it was gross lol. I want something worth my while.

I also have Coffee plants I can trade. Pm me with any cutting opportunities!

21
I just purchased the last the nursery had, Taichang Lemon which Iím told is a more rare variety? However, I am unable to find much info on them. Perhaps someone who owns/owned one can tell me a little more on them and how they do as container trees?

Thanks!

Citrus General Discussion / Wekiwa vs OroBlanco
« on: September 19, 2020, 10:07:31 PM »
Iím wondering which of these varieties I should buy? I am lacking a grapefruit/pomelo in my collection and seem to have narrowed to these. Of course I will be growing in containers, currently both available to me on dwarf/semi dwarf rootstock. Does anyone possibly own each tree, or can give me a comparative flavor profile? As well as if theyíre good containerized varieties or not.

Thanks to all!

24
Looking to buy now for next years rootstock! Let me know if anyone has any.
