« on: September 07, 2021, 07:59:27 PM »
I have seen some debates on whether achacha is g. Humillis, and of course searching just made a bunch of achacha articles pop up. Just want to get this clarified a bit since a while ago I saw a thread of an “actual” garcinia humillis.
Thanks! :)

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Tropical fruit tree seedlings and cold
« on: March 17, 2021, 01:17:54 AM »
Anyone have any idea of how low minimum can these seedlings take without damage? Slower growth is fine I guess but just want to know if they’ll do it without damage. All are 3-5 inches tall approximately
Inga(Inga vera)
Jak fruit(artocarpus heterophyllus)
Sugar apple(annona squamosa) I left one out and below 40 killed the buds
Of course it survived but it was a tiny seedling quite impressed
Cherimoya(annona cherimola
Rollinia(annona mucosa)

Thank you  :)

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Identify mystery plant(psidium?)
« on: March 10, 2021, 11:42:24 PM »
I went to one of my friend’s house and found a plant. That was in summer, when the tree was Rene. After the winter, the leaves turned red. The leaves look very similar to guava leaves. After doing some research, I think this maybe a narrow leaved guava (psidium striatulum) the tree has never flowered.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Solanum gRafting?
« on: March 09, 2021, 12:30:00 AM »
Hi, I’ve avoided solanaceae for a long time because I don’t like growing trees that don’t live for long. However, I have out goldenberry(physalis) as an exception as I heard it can sucker from the base.
I wonder, is there a “longer living” solanum species that is compatible with others to use as a rootstock to lengthen lifespan?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you :)

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Grafting question
« on: January 24, 2021, 12:35:28 AM »
I wonder if it’s possible to graft two species that aren’t compatible and use a species that is compatible by both to put in the middle of those 2. I’m sure it’s likely possible but how will the graft do on the roots of the somewhat distant species? ??? ??? ???

Tropical Fruit Discussion / annonaceae<3
« on: December 18, 2020, 08:25:11 PM »
So if found out a couple months ago that top tropicals(online nursery) carries a fruit they found from central america, listed as"pineapple annona" or "golden sugar apple". they believe it to be a "hybrid between soursop and pond apple". but many people have said it is just a pond apple, it does look like a pond apple and i think it is. i would get why it was thought to be a hybrid since it probably tastes better than a typical pond apple, so i would like seeds for it since i like collecting annonas.
Annona glabra

also any of u have kepel(stelecholarpus burahol) cold tolerance?
any of these, cold tolerance would be appreciated(i dont have any of these, just happen to like annonas)
monkey pepper(xylopia aromatica)
pindaiba(dugetia lanceolata)
Yara Yara (Dugetia(i forgot))
monkey banana(porcelia macrocarpa)
bush banana(uvaria sp.)
calabao(uvaria sp.)
wild custard apple(annona senegalensis)
beach custard apple(annona parviflora)
marolo(annona (srry i forgot))
marolo lisa(annona coriacea)
poshete(annona scleroderma)
quaresma(annona maritima/rollinia maritima)
Groundsop(annona stenophylla)
Toredo(annona spraguei)

Help would be appricieated! also if u didn't know, i already know junglesop can take down to about 30 degrees, not super sensitive.
thx!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / why are cherimoya seeds rotting
« on: December 06, 2020, 12:31:37 AM »
My cherimoya seeds have been in a pot and they've rotted over the course of 1 month. someone online said there could be microscopic insects goign in adn spoiling them, and i think that's the case. i have seeds i saved just in case. i know they are viable to about 2-3 yrs if theyre kept dry and they have. how long do they take to sprout if kept for 1 month?
