Used too try mangos !even if they aren't sour ,the sweetness will increase !I can't even eat my mangos without it ,is like adding 5% more Brix to them

4
Guazima ulmifolia ,kind of common in the coast very used for medicinal purpose ,I read that people chew on them and they are sweet but all the ones I've seen are very hard to chew on them !😂😂 The ones in your Pic are maybe at bit over ripen original old ,

How long did it take to flower from seed?
around 4 years

Just have this variety flowering for first time and to me surprise set lot of fruits ,received the seeds from Mike T who talked high on it and the result was as promised ,Is a winner for me and stands out VS the Star Apple I've tried before , they are very sweet with the delicious Star apple flavor an  diluted condensadet milk sweetness with notes of honey and slightly sweet  Soursop ,there was very few or no látex so no sticky lips on this one ,flesh is not firm ,very juicy and soft like eating a natilla or soft flan ,low seeds 3/5 of them per fruit ,and skin is ver soft flesh can be scratch just until skin is very thin ,so happy to get this variety that make me change my perspective of the all OK but bland star apples I've tried before ,this variety needs to be more spread widely ,from the star apple approach this could be considered a flavor bomb .One thing I noticed this haven't reach the close to a Kilo weight mentioned by Mike but that could either because I didn't water the tree or because is first time fruiting and the large amount of fruit set
Seeds 2.5 each
Shipping is 9 for USA and 11 elsewhere
My Paypal is raulglezruiz@gmail.com please specify your ORDER AND ADDRESS in the PayPal message window and I'll comeback to you with tracking number ,may take a few days or a week to ship as fruits are just starting to ripen

BTW DPI Gold on the mother tree are larger fruit than that in the pic
hey Mike I remembered I receive both seeds from you both I recall alva never sprouted ,so double thinking
Probably I mixed up the seeds without noticing or misslabel them , looking at today fruits probably you are  right and unless they will change color for sure they are Alva, I'm really satisfied with the excellent flavor they have ,eventually do I tried several different Caimito before any were as sweet and complex in flavor ,thanks alot for sharing this valuable variety amigo !😀😀😀

Tropical Fruit Discussion / DPI Gold Caimito
« on: April 03, 2024, 07:27:15 PM »
A few years ago I received seeds from Mike T of an Australian Caimito selection from an Australian government agricultural center called DPI ,  I approach grafted to the stump of a regular Caimito that I cut down to take advantage of the adult roots in order to provide more vigor to the DPI Gold seedling ,well this year flowered for first time and to my surprise hold many fruits , in the picture of Mike they have a Copper/pink color and relatively large size , I noticed this morning a couple have change color from regular green into a kind of different green but the difference was noticeable , I touch one and was very soft so I decided to give it a try even if hasn't the gold /copper color in the Mike T pictures , I opened with a knife and share half with my wife who minutes before was getting ready to snack on a carrots cake , upon opening the fruit I noticed very few látex who look very watery and diluted ,I touched with myself lips and didn't noticed the regular sticky lips , when trying the flesh I was really surprised of how sweet it was ! I had tried several different Caimito before but they were just OK with a mild flavor , this DPI Gold was super soft flesh ,not firm at all kinds of fluffy and juicy , the flavor was of diluted condensated milk with honey ,I found a late notes of sweet Soursop , this fruit had 0% acidity , it was a real surprise to me ,this sweetness in Caimito , the skin is very soft and tin after eating the fruit , I'm going to wait more days before I cut another to see if the color change like the ones Mike post here in the forum , I'm grateful with Mike T for sharing the seeds of this delicious fruit with me .as a side note my wife after eating one Caimito decided to decline the carrot cake for later 🤣🤣

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Papaches, Papachi, (Randia echinocarpa)
« on: January 11, 2024, 06:58:52 PM »
I came across an interesting fruit from the north of Mexico call Papaches (Randia echinocarpa) never heard of it before til someone post them on Facebook, they are from all the pacific coast and up to 1000 masl.
So apparently can be grow in different climates, when in season is very sought after and people cut them from the hills and take them to the main cities to sell them, the flavor is very sweet with some bitter notes, and people say the more you eat the bitter is less perceived, I guess something that happens with coffee too, they taste a bit like burn sugar in the flan desert, they are mainly sough after because studies have found them very medicinal against cancer and good for greasy liver, kidneys and other illness, also people put the pulp inside a glass of water for a while and then drink it saying the taste is very refreshing and they can drink water very satisfying after doing this. The fruit itself looks kind of shocking being something like prehistoric shape.
There's a nice video in the link, you can select the English subtitles in the upper right corner of the video

I have a small Lucs in the ground 4 years or so.  It is just below 3 feet tall and is holding its first fruit.

It is a small tree (old, enough to hold fruit, but really small)  and I am surprised it is flowering and holding fruit.  I have others, that are larger and planted about the same time but not doing much right now.

I will post a picture later.
nice, sometimes they can start flowering just at a meter tall, I remember one in Luc's house flowered like crazy, I guess yours is a seedling?
