Thanks for everyone’s input. It’s been 90 degrees here the past 3 days. I just checked on the mango and it fell in my hand. I can’t wait to try it but will leave it on the counter for a few days.
I have a seedling mango growing in Santa Clara that I grafted with scions I got from forum members. Most grafts are 3yrs old and I let them hold fruit for the first time this year. One of the fruit is coloring up and smells really good. Do you think I should pick it now and let it counter ripen? Scion was sold as Cac.
I harvested my first batch of fruit from the early season blooms. Everyone that tried the fruit really liked it. When the fruit is ripe it becomes yellow and loses the shine. As the fruit ripens you will smell a nice fragrance when you rub the skin. B[/img]
My Bay Area cherilata is growing well. I grafted the scion to a cherimoya seedling spring 2021. It is holding a few fruit but they are not sizing up as fast the cherimoya.
My vine bloomed early this season and the fruit are already big. I’m in another round of blooms now. 10am seems to be the best time for hand pollination in my yard.
Mine also fruited a little over a year from a rooted cutting. I got lots of flowers and was able to get 8 to set fruit. I hand pollinated with own pollen around noon time.
Whenever I call or go to Atkins they always say that they have don't have 5 gallon mango in stock. I was there a few weeks ago and was wandering around the greenhouse in front of the office and found a few nice seedlings in tall 18 inch containers. Not sure what rootstock it is but grows really well for me in the Bay Area.
Trees arrived today in great condition and nicely packaged. Glad to add M4 and Sugarloaf to my collection. Great seller, will definitely buy from him again!
