It is Tuna season , fruit tuna . Nopal’s. Opuntia.
I have PCH #1 , Papaya and Honeydew.
I will fill a medium flat rate box with at least 3 pads for $20, A large flat rate with at least 4 pads for $25 plus $16 medium usps flat rate or $20 large usps flat rate
I will put as many pads as possible in the box, sometimes they are really big.
PCH #1 for info.  http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=4698.0
Papaya and Honeydew I collected pads of on a Nopal farm in Rainbow,CA
These were my 2 favorite I tried. 4 years later I have pads for sale/trade.
Papaya is Orange, sweet and tasty.
Honeydew is green to yellow, also sweet and tasty fruit.
I have the yellow available in this photo below alongside the papaya.

I'd be interested in a pad of each. PM me with what a total might be plus shipping altogether. I would imagine these are probably hardy to at least zone 8 right?
Trying to grow it all!

Wow this is exactly what I've been looking for, I asked two users on here about tunas but didn't really get a response.

I'm totally new to prickly pear fruit, having never grown nor tasted them fresh.

When selecting a variety what are some traits to look out for?

I saw this listing on EFN of a cold-hardy prickly pear that has a thick wall of flesh surrounding the seed core, which I haven't seen in many other prickypear fruit - is this a good trait for eating?

Fruiting season is winding down and these improved varieties are so tasty.
I tried a bunch of different Tuna’s this year and having small seeds that don’t get in the way while your eating is one of the best attributes about these varieties.
The flavor is great on all of them but the Papaya really stands alone in terms of flavor , small soft seeds , very low on spines and a vigorous grower too.

I finally tried it this year. It was good. My patch only produced 1 fruit and then the wind snapped it down to 2 pads right above ground level. So I have a bunch of huge, extra PCH #1 pads right now. Thanks for sharing that one around!

Good to hear you got to try it. My plant is still small I haf to restart it from a smaller pad over a year ago. I lost my other larger plant in the ground in FL from a yard flood a few years back.

I am glad I shared it because the genetics may have been lost. Hope you get to try more fruit next year.

What are the jars in the 1st post? Juice?

Also, how do you know fruit are ripe?

I have a plant that is flowering and fruiting, some random optunia that I snatched a pad of from my wife's abuela's house.

Yes. Really good on it’s own or blended with other juices.

They will split, fall off , change color and get soft.
The largest fruits are about tennis ball size but longer.

What does PCH#1 stand for?

Interested, but not familiar with these too much.

Thanks.

Opuntia sp: Torrance PCH#1
Large red fruit with red interior. Excellent sweet flavor with subtle watermelon taste. Soft small seeds that can be broken down by teeth. Low spreading growth habit. Fruit resistant to rotting due to moisture/humidity. Fruit holds on plant for months through the winter, while maintaining great eating qualities. Production moderate to low.
