Kampong Mauve
« on: August 11, 2021, 01:26:26 PM »
Last year I got a couple of tiny fruits, but this is my first decent crop from my little tree... maybe a dozen fruits on it. I have to say, they're  not what some might call "top tier" but they are quite flavorful if not quite as sweet as a few other annonna  I have but juicier, no doubt both issues likely due to the copious amounts of rain recently.

I'm already looking forward to next year when the little five foot tree grows a bit more can support more fruit.

Anyone else with a Mauve that's in a similar taste envelope?

Regards,

We tried mauve at Chris' (Truly Tropical) a couple years ago and it tasted like rose petals, really outstanding. Planted a tree after that but it hasn't produced yet.

They are productive and soft and less sweet than some yes. You wont lay awake at night marvelling over their culinary qualities but theyre ok. Not many reach the size of the one in the pic and fruit size varies a bit.

This year so far is an increase in fruit. No rose petal flavor and all have been nice and sweet.

Some reports said cherimoya rootstock increased sugar apple fruit size.
What is your KM rootstock?

My km was labeled at the nursery I have no idea if it was a seedling or if grafted what the root stock was.
