For Sale: Red Himalayan Mulberry Cuttings
« on: October 06, 2021, 08:31:14 AM »
I have red himalayan mulberry cuttings for sale. The cuttings will be from hardened green wood, diameter will range from 1/4"-1/2", length will be 6-8" to fit into USPS small flat rate box.

Here's the cost:
1. Red Himalayan cutting, $4 each
2. Shipping cost, $9

-> also have other varieties if your interesed, Black Pakistan, Shangri La, White Pakistan, Australian Green, Persian, Tice, Thai Dwarf.

Only take paypal for payment.
Sales for US, lower 48 states.

These cuttings can not be rooted so if you don't have a rootstock to graft then don't buy it.

Thanks.

You stand a decent chance of rooting the Thai Dwarf cuttings... the others are pretty challenging to root...  But can be done.
You are right... They are best grafted.

Yes, I was mainly referring to rooting the red himalayan, but I have rooted the Black Pakistan, Shangri La, and Thai Dwarf.

In your opinion,  what works best as rootstock for a manageable cocktail tree?

slopat, I can tell you which ones are not good rootstock to use if you want a manageable multi-grafted tree.
These varieties just grow to fast so it will not be easy to keep to height of 10 ft:
- don't use Black Pakistan (gets to 20 ft easily)
- don't use Persian (vigorous, like black pakistan)
- donit use red himalayan (has the longest branches (12-15 ft)

The rootstocks to use below are much better for size control of a multi-grafted tree:
1. Shangri-La, grows well but the trunk and branches don't get large so fast. You can keep it under 10 ft by trimming back each year.
2. White Pakistan (my version), very slow grower, skinny but healthy branches, easy to cut back just once a year. Can keep this one to 8 ft.
3. Any of the dwarf everbearing mulberry (Morus nigra), these have skinny branches, grows more like a bush. Can keep these with grafted branches to 4 ft.
4. Thai Dwarf, many branches, if you cut it back each year, can keep it to 6 ft.

If you keep them in a pot then don't worry, you can keep any of the varieties under 5 ft by trimming back. I transplanted my 10ft black pakistan with a 3" diameter trunk into a pot and keep it at 3 ft tall.
