I just came back from an Amazon village where their Biriba average was probably 20 lbs. we picked a ripe one and it fed the whole family of 10 and me. This one wasn’t particularly sweet but had zero sour and was a firm texture I have not seen in Biriba before. Firm like flan. Not a whole lot of seeds for the amount of flesh. The one we ate on the boat was a small ripe one we found.
The average size of the biriba fruits from that Amazon village you visited was 20 lbs?
?? Holy moly, that's jack fruit territory right there!!
The search for superior genetics of rare annonas, such as biriba, sancoya, and ilama is growing and society will benefit the next time they are given more choices of delicious fruit shakes at their local smoothie shops!
Appreciate the pictures! Pictures don't do this fruit much justice. Biribas are on my top list of fruits that need to be enjoyed at least once in a lifetime!
