Fresh Mangosteen at Costco Burbank/ High Quality
« on: June 02, 2022, 06:02:17 PM »
Anyone who lives nearby Burbank and likes mangosteen, go today!!!
I just came back with 2 bags and I wish I had bought 10 bags instead.
It is fresh, not frozen or previously frozen, not rotten like last time when I bought previously frozen ones.
The whole bag is fresh and very delicious.
The stems are all intact means they have not been kept like a month or so in storage.
The price is also very reasonable for one bag is about 2 lbs and only $13.99!
I lost the tag, so I cannot see where this mangosteen comes from. But I grew up eating fresh mangosteen, and I approve of these ones!
Go buy it today!!

Must be regional, I have never seen mangosteen or really any exotic fruit at costco.  What a shame, I'd buy them out :)

Great price, Peter.  When does durian ripen?   Both of them at the same time would warrant a vacation to CR!

There should be durian and mangosteen at the same time. The thing is that this harvest of durian has had two flowerings. So some durians will drop around the end of this month to early July. Then we should have quite a bit more durian the second half of august into September I think. We have champedek now.
I think early July should have both. Durian will last longer but might have gaps in the harvest.
The trees got confused by a very early dry period and it’s been a dry year, kind of a challenge for planting but pretty good for fruit.
The caribeSur of CR has other producers besides us as well.

The mangosteens are probably from Mexico.  I've bought mangosteen at H Mart, before
