So I am loving all the vidoes of members fruity yards and greenhouses, but the subjects, of course, get pushed down the list until they are hard to find. Any chance of adding a new category under Tropical Fruit Discussion, along with "Introduce Yourself" and "FAQ"?

Or, a new category on the main page along with Tropical Fruit Discussion, Buy and Sell, etc.

Then all the tours would be easy to find! I want to save these and refer to them again and again.

Or, being a cheerful Luddite general, and brand new to YouTube, is there a way to index them THERE?

Thanks!
Carolyn

Making a section like that on the forum seems like a good idea.

You can also make playlists on youtube and save them there. Youtube playlist instructions -> https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/57792?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop

i also love tour videos so i'd be happy if a category for them was created.  but would this category be more useful to me than a category for subtropical fruit?  probably not.

ideally the creation of new categories should be prioritized by the demand for them, which could be determined using donations to this forum.  this would kill two big birds with one stone.

here are some of the categories that i'd donate for...

hybridizing
grafting
subtropical fruit
public fruit parks
drought tolerance
mediterranean climate
southern california
tour videos
garcinias
eugenias

I would also like to have a category for basically "Grow and Tell". I feel kinda bad sometimes clogging up the main discussion board with my Yard Tour 2022 post, which stings even more that I can't change the 2022 of haha

I suppose it's all fine in the General Discussion forum, but yeah, seems we really only have one category, which is General, for "Tropical Fruit", which arguably I am barely growing since it's all sub-tropical and my 9b zone isn't tropical either? I guess there are palms growing nearby though, so it's tropical "enough"

That is why most of the OG's moved to fb
lol
over half of the topics talked about or posted on a daily basis have no applicability to me or interest.

FB kinda sucks in its own way. The algorithm will only show you what it thinks will engage you most, not what was posted recently. There is also very little long form content, and people certainly are not updating over the course of years, the same thread. FB is purposefully built to make content vapor-like. It's there, then it's not, and will have a hard time finding it again.

It's funny, I grew up participating in a niche of skateboarding that used the exact same forum build as TFF and it disappeared because everyone went to FB, and now we long for what we lost. There was decades of information that just *poof* disappeared into the ether. The sport has had a tremendous downturn since then and I think that the loss of forum participation, knowledge, and having a "meeting place" was an ingredient to this.

I found TFF via searching for information Google way back when. FB posts do not show up in the same way.

On YouTube, you can create your own playlists where you can save all the garden tour videos you like.
