Papaya leaf drop

My papayas (grown from the seed of a store bought fruit) have leaves that look like this:



and finish up like this




Any ideas? I haven't been giving eny kind of special care.  Just water and fertilizer (dyna-gro)

At the current rate they'll be bald by summer!

That's usually what the bottom leaves look like before they fall off naturally. Rip it off.
