Local had a mamee with small fruit . Sadly he has sold property .. small fruits would be worthwhile trying to propagate as the fruit is usually a bit to big. Constant pruning would keep trees small.

Alan Carle has a few vars of Cola . mate gave me a tree he sprouted from seeds bought in a shop in France !
My tree has only given me fruit 1 time .. and never found it after it must have dropped off . Flowering very well almost all the time with large flowers .
Another tree in town of the smaller flowering C acuminata has never fruited either.

There are lots of cashews growing in sub-tropical Childers in SE-Qld . A tree was found on an old homestead dating back 100 years ago. Local experienced avocado grower had one near her house .
Lots of lychees and macadanmias in the deep red soil there . I bought a seedling to wet tropical Tully and it lasted about 5 years .

In wet tropics with regular pruning we are getting fruit in 3 years .
A few cvs with more entire leaf have proven pretty reliable .

Looks just like cv. that has proved to be very fast bearing here in tropical north Qld .

Mine has been planted out for about 3 years . It is now 2m easy . Foliage looks a little different to yours .
Leaves do smell strongly of cloves and flush red with new foliage . Fingers crossed for flowering this spring .

Really worth the effort to grow Java Blue , BUT make sure to de-sucker and shift every few yeas as it is very prone to the rootborer . You will have to prop up . Very distinctive colour of the fruit make it easy to id

I bought a small tree from Kerrie Mac' It was blown over in Cyclone Yasi , and took a very long time to regrow .
Recently topped mulched and fed . Have had no fruit from it yet .

Mango Turmeric , or Curcuma amada is very pale almost white .
Above pic shows it compared with orange and yellow turmerics I also grow .
I have made a delcous relish with it just grated with lemon juice chilli and salt

I have a mate over there now also . He has access to lots of land and has been over several times taking seeds . He has been volunteering at David Chandlees & Kerry Macevoys so is learning heaps . Lots of Barringtonia edulis in the area and I have offered him $2/ seed .. Hope he can bring lots back . Unsure if it is in cultivation in Australia , I have seen a yellow flowering Barringtonia but cannot confirm if it is edulis .

I bought a good quality mouli/food mill , was able to process 3 litres of pulp in only 10 minutes . Luckily these fruits had very few seeds . Mate has hundreds of trees and some fruits get attacked by local forest critters .
My breeze block wall has a perfectly positioned hole to place the handle and this stabilises the tool for much easier processing.
