I had a big in the ground.  But after 8 years in ground with no flowers and the past 2 years, about 30% die back, I decided to axe and plant something more productive.
Would like to may be container grow a loquat, that way can move it into shade in June, July, August.
Anyone know of dwarf varieties with sweet fruit and if so, where to purchase?

Is everyone using for their citrus trees?  I use a brand made in AZ, but, I am not sure that I love it.  Anyone getting great results with their fertilizer?

Thats great.  I tried growing them here in phx.  They never died, but, as soon as May hit, they would stop growing.  And, drop leaves in early fall.  They'd come back the next year.  But, my yard is too small to continue the experiment.

There are native blue berries to FL that you might want to try.
If you get a named variety, I would put it in a large pot with acidic soil or else it will decline over 3-4 years then croak.  They make a very nice outdoor potted plant.  I mean, front porch nice.  And, I am growing them in Phoenix and we had like 60 days over 110 and they did better than some of my cacti, lol.

My male kei apple got enormous this summer and a few years back my female died.  Would love to start producing some fruit but cannot find sexed plants (at least ones I can afford).  Anyone have a plant for sale or know a nursery where I could purchase one?

I had two pitombas in the ground this year and I think both croaked from our unrelenting july/August heat.
I bought before I knew much about them.  But, I've since heard that a fair amount of them taste like ham.  That would not be a fruit I would personally want to grow.
Was wondering if anyone had a plant, or seeds or knew of anyone selling pitomba that has produces that taste like a fruit and not meat.

Got my monkey orange today.  Nice size, was wrapped professionally,  plant arrived in perfect.  An overall excellent buying experience for anyone interested in his selection.
By the way, is monkey orange self fertile?

Citrus General Discussion / Replacement for dying citrus tree

My Kishu mandarin is not doing well in this heat.  Large branches are dying.  30 days over 110 in AZ.
It's been watered well.  It has never really produced fruit and probably 8 years in ground.
So, when it cools down, I am going to take it out.
Looking for suggestions for a good variety.
What I have now is heirloom AZ variety orange, Rio red grapefruit, blood orange, whatever the Tangerine variety they sell at Lowes and a Cara Cara.
Not doing any kind of lime, as they attract roof rats.
Right now, I am leaning towards a yosemite gold. But, thought I would ask for suggestions.

I wouldn't plant a Kei Apple unless you have a large property and can tuck it away to avoid those thorns.

Baba berry raspberry.
Raspberry shortcake, from bushel and berry.  They have both of them for sale down in here in phoenix
Also, I had to yank my Brazos blackberry because it was about to overtake my yard.

I haven't had any problems withoquats, so far.  The trick I think, is planting them in late September.  Gives the roots enough time to dig into the soil and be adjusted before June.  I have a pretty big juicy Jim from tropicamango in AJ, but, it hasn't bloomed yet.

Thanks for the tip!  Do you know where I can buy those bugs?  I also heard the smell of marigolds can also repel thrips, s am throwing some seed around my roses, as they are getting hit, too.

Very happy, my blood orange is bloody.  I know Tarocco isn't supposed to have deep pigment so I think it turned out an appropriate color.
The one I ate so far was good, mild taste with that raspberry tang present.  Not bad for first year fruiting
