Sapodilla question
« on: July 08, 2023, 11:35:47 PM »
Has anyone in AZ, or in the low desert of the SW fruited a sapodilla?  If so, what was the variety and what, if any, special attention was given to it.

My Silas Wood is currently holding one fruit, which set earlier in the Spring.  I didn't do anything in terms of hand pollinating. We will see if the fruit grows to maturity given this nasty heat wave we're in.  Both the SW and my other two varieties recently flowered.  I should know in 2-3 weeks whether any fruit set but not optimistic because of the heat.  All three are in part sun/part shade throughout the day.

I am from the Redlands area of southern California. I have successfully fruited sapodillas. No hand pollination. However, I do have misters to provide humidity and aid in pollination (maybe).
