Brad, you have success grafting avocado around Feb right?   I want topwork a couple old stumps over to Reed and Sharwil.  I can’t seem to kill these stumps and they keep fruiting from the rootstock growth even without irrigation.  They must have found groundwater.  I might as well put on some good varieties if they grow and fruit on their own without care, but graft at a good time of the year.

I am finding the earlier the better with grafting to top work.  I started doing grafts this week because of the weather.  But last year and again this year I will do most of the grafting in December.  I feel February is too late for my location.  Grafts are not always healed well enough before the heat may kick in.  It was not that hot this spring but some years it is.  I had almost perfect success on 50+ grafts last year in December.
