My new tropical fruit hunters website

New Tropical Fruit Hunters website!

Hey everyone...Ohiojay here under my new forum member name.  I would like to invite all of you to come visit my new website www.tropicalfruithunters.com.  I've been wanting to do this for a few years now and today is my launch day.  I'm pretty excited about it and nervous as hell...probably a hundred things I've forgotten to do!

I have tons of pictures uploaded of the greenhouse and past fruit hunting trips, and a blog where I will entertain the hell out of each of you with past and current adventures!  LOL!

I also have shirts available.  If anyone from the forum is interested in purchasing one, the first 25 members that purchase a shirt will get a $3 discount.  You will have to pay the full price but just mention that you are on the forum when prompted to leave special instructions to the seller, and I will refund $3 back to you! I am only offering this to forum members.

Tropical Fruit Hunters is also on facebook, so please, go out there and put a "like" on it!  www.facebook.com/tropicalfruithunters

All of this is new to me so would love to hear your feedback.  I hope you enjoy it.  It's been a labor...  I would like to say "labor of love", but there have been many frustrating moments.  Big learning curve for me and probably much more to go.  Thanks, Jay

I'm enjoying your new web site....slowly checking everything out.  My three times joining in the PR trips doesn't earn me a "PR gang" honorable mention?  I'm crushed.  :(

I'm crushed that Noel's name was before mine. I think you gotta go alphabetical or else feelings are gonna be hurt.

Nice start.

It would be great if you could adjust some of the content to be educational, so others can learn from your techniques and things you've learned.

Really cool site Jay! Congratulations. Look forward to checking out all the photos and blogs. Can tell it's been a long hard winter, how else would you find the time to do all that website work?  ;) Wish i could find the time to organize all my shots like that! What software did you use to create your website?

Thanks guys...
Jcaldiera...Yes, it would be nice.  I've struggled to get to this point and had to start somewhere.  One challenge at a time!   :)  I will definitely have plenty of "what not to do's" in upcoming blogs.

Harry...yes, I did leave you out and I sincerely apologize...but you're in now!

Oscar...I started with Ipage and they gored me from behind very deep with bugs in their product.  All this was discovered the morning I "wanted" to go live.  After a week of trying things their way, they still couldn't deliver and told me I had to delete my site and start from scratch.  I agreed but told them I would do so with another company.  Ended up with Weebly and so far has met my expectations.  I still have a ways to go personally though.

outstanding in every respect Jay. Job really well done buddy, although I know you have just gotten started on the site. Am excited to get the shirt. Dont worry about the refund. Consider it my down-payment for the next set of keys Sheehan loses.
I only skimmed the site for now but am excited to read it in depth in due course. Not so excited to see a picture of me from just a few years ago and notice just how fat I got in just a few years. Oh well. Again, the best addition to my fruit life since the tropical fruit forum. Nice job Jay.

I appreciate the edit.  The reference to my failing visual acuity, not so much. FYI.....I liked your FB page even before the edit and subsequent joke.  :)

Great photos. What varieties are the tomatoes? Same or different? Those are some huge tomatoes and plants.

Thanks again everyone.  Renee...I start different tomatoes normally every year just to try them out.  Mostly heirlooms such as Hillbilly, Anna Russian, various Brandywines, Goliath, chocolate cherry, etc.  Most get hit hard with late blight and seldom reach frost dates anymore.  Hell, even some of the more disease resistant hybrids can't stand up to this.

Very nice website, Jay. Very good-looking. Best of luck!

I'll be scanning those Puerto Rico galleries....we are planning a trip there this year, if all goes well.

Yam, should be posting a blog about the greenhouse construction real soon...What a "lessons learned" bananza.  I'll get to the PR trips and others as well.  Thanks all for the kind words.  Much appreciated believe me.

Okay...I added a new page to the site "Education".  This will be the start of my lessons learned...which is about as educational as I can get!

Jay - it is great!    As if you weren't busy enough, doing a website/blog and Facebook  should keep you out of the bars!
