Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Ring girdle for fruit tree

A good ole rope tightly tied around a branch has worked wonders for me.

If the tree is damaged and becomes diseased, girdling could indeed shorten lifespan.

Picture of the fruit might help but if planted in a public park, chances are just a random seedling.

What monstrosity of a bird dropped that seed in the park?

...don't jaks soften up a bit as they ripen, or is that usually after picking?

Some promising news! Catching a faint whiff of yumberries already.

Just received m. cerifera plants ordered to graft on; they should be ready in about a year or 2, LOL

7
I've got a few hopeful buds on mine

Wow they look super nice and promising! What varieties are they? You must be doing something right.

LIFE!!!!!! ...and with it, hope

Great job on the yard and garden. A beautiful work in progress. Fun to watch. Looking forward to updates and seeing how everything grows out.

Agree with Joe, that citrus multi-graft is badass!!

Yours is much better Mike, and can imagine you are even more zealous!

My friend, who is Thai, says Mayon Chid is especially good.

My old landscaper, who has his own private nursery, is just like that.

Q: What kind of jabo is that?

A: It has black fruits.

Q: What kind of rollinia is this?

A: Tasty kind.

You ROCK Ken! Very cool of you to make this happen. You've made a lot of people happy, and have earned your place in the annals of fruit history. Yangmei may now spread in the US. I salute you.

Any word on condition of the plants?

just asked again - "still alive". I sure hope so!

Green is a good sign!

Hopefully they can mist them with water, not just pesticide.
