WTB (in AZ)- Honey Crispy Kumquat
« on: February 08, 2024, 05:44:30 PM »
I am hearing some real things about this kumquat. Like the fruit is all rind which is great for a kumquat.

Any idea of where to buy this in Arizona. Don't have any hope for scion or tree.

In case it helps you track it down (or other synonyms), this listing includes the Chinese characters for the name (脆蜜金桔):

https://www.hardtofindtrees.com/product/honey-crisp/

Just to be clear I'm not endorsing that seller, I don't know anything about them and there are some red flags (e.g., no mention of what state or even country they are located in, or where they can and can't ship to).

Check Face Book, there's a person who is selling it. I don't know where he is located or any other details. Search Honey Crisp Kumquat.

Maybe you should just order the Marumi kumquat from UCR/CCPP budwood.

I went to their field in Riverside last weekend with the CRFG and had a tour of their field with many of the varieties which were all fruiting. They gave us the tour and discuss the varieties, then let you pick the fruits to eat there. I tasted their Marumi and it was sweeter than the Meiwa, I was surprised. I did not taste much sourness in the flesh. I have the Nagami, Nordhmann, and Meiwa but never added the Marumi since the fruits are small. But now, I think I will need to buy some of budwood from them. Fruits are smaller than the Meiwa but seems to be sweeter, at least sweeter than my fruits.

Any idea of where to buy this in Arizona. Don't have any hope for scion or tree.

My tree is having fruits, not ripe yet. May be I can provide a taste test result in few weeks.
