Myrica Californica 1 Gallon for M. Rubra grafting
« on: March 12, 2022, 05:47:31 PM »
I can source 1 gallon M. Californica rootstock for $20 a piece from a nursery.
I know they are around and hopefully everyone that needs them can find them at one of your local nurseries.
I could likely fit 4 in usps priority large package , depending on the root mass and plant structures.
I haven’t seen the plants so can’t speculate.
If anyone cannot find these locally and is interested in a 4 pack shipped to you for around $110 including the shipping, let me know in this thread.
If there are 5-10 people interested then I could potentially make this happen in the next few weeks.

Hey Bush2Beach, what would be the average diameter of this M. Californica? If it's too small for our F*****G INFECTED plants,  it wouldn't help. It needa to be at least 1/5 inch to be immediately usable.

The whole point is to help people out that need rootstock to graft their infected Myrica Rubra plants to.
If it is somehow not appropriate grafting size , trust me I am not here to waste my time & money or anyone else’s.

Right on y’all. I can see about making this nursery run in 2 weeks .
I am trying to loop it in with another stop on a day trip.
I am only going to get nice sized 1 gallons that have preferably 2+ nice branches to graft.

My grafts never took on Californica, I got scions a few years ago from Fang.

I did the graft 03/19, Scott. I also did a couple of bark grafts onto one of the plants I bought, looks like one starts to push also but not sure. I see needle points where buds are supposed to be.

Cool congrats ;) 8)  Around same time I grafted my shrub outside I'am starting to see little red bud's pushing through para-film and some round I assume flower bud's on some branches. I take a pic tomorrow, what worried me was after grafting we had 5-6 hour freeze down to 29-30 for that long but I know they (Myrica )are hardy. Some more time will tell for sure.
