Passiflora ID
« on: August 02, 2021, 02:44:53 PM »
I was at a local nursery and they had some Patio Fruit brand "edible passion fruit" with a picture of what is clearly P. edulis. They definitely had some P. edulis for sale as well; however, there were half a dozen or so that are clearly NOT P. edulis. Does anyone know what these might be? My best guess is P. quandrangularis. The stems are squarish and the leaves are large and not lobed. I have included some pics as well. Thanks in advance!

You might also look for 4-6 petiole glands that are present on P. quadrangularis

I think its either quadrangularis or alata. I have supposedly a quadrangularis and the leaves are a little different than yours, mine are more sharp at the tips and more round in general.
I think it surely cant be the fruit type pictured at the label and as u said ,thats clearly a edulis type , yours is something else ...

According to Vanderplank, P. alata has 2-4 sessile petiole glands.

Thank you all for the information. I am fairly certain that it is. P. quandrangularis.
