Thomasville Citrangequat help
(1/1)
NativeNC:
Can anyone help identify what may be occurring with the leaves on this thomasville? I had it overwinter indoors as a 1g and watered too much, had some spider mite issues as well. After planting out in ground this spring, I had some die back in which I cut back and it regrew from around the graft union. Yet, I have still noticed these plotches on the new leaves and as it's going semi dormant it seems to be increasingly noticeable. Any advice helps, thanks!
tedburn:
Difficult to say, did you check the roots ?
Which rootstock has it ?
Often in to wet/rainy cold conditions rootstocks
with exception of Poncirus or Citrumelo or Citrange
don' t perform well and the roots have problems.
I would repot it, with checking the roots, and
water it very careful.
usirius:
As tedburn has already suggested, the condition of the roots (as a result of overwatering) could be one possible cause, because it looks to me somewhat like a nutrient deficiency. However, whether the soil has too few nutrients, perhaps washed out, or the plant has roots in poor condition, that is the question. Another possibility for the formation of spots could be a current or past pest infestation. And a third reasonwould be the effects of a deliberately or accidentally sprayed substance.
NativeNC:
I've been thinking it may still be stressed and trying to recover from a tad bit of spider mites and overwatering indoors over winter. I planted it in the ground maybe around April or May of this year. I've been leaning on the side of the roots still trying to recover. Because the new flush of leaves never looked as well as they should have either. So this, combined with its semi dormant behavior this time of year, is maybe causing it to look the way it is?
Millet:
Looking t the leaves, the tree is showing a deficiency of iron. The tell tail leaf pattern of an iron decency is leaves with a green veins on otherwise yellowish leaf. Deficiency is often caused by high pH rather than shortage of minerals.
