Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Good rootstock for Myrciaria sp. Roxa?
« on: November 26, 2022, 09:55:13 PM »
No need to rootstock this particular species. There are reports that it flowers at the 3 year mark and can fruit the next year.  Taste reports on this one is that it is one of the best tasting myciaria. I grow 20 of them and keeping them all. They are beautiful and the taste report I got is from someone I trust.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Jabuticaba soil mixes used
« on: November 03, 2022, 02:20:19 PM »
I have had really good luck with FoxFarm Ocean Forest mixed with pumice / perlite / sand / peat in various amounts. Can't really go wrong in my opinion for jabos with this soil.

The most important part of using peat based mixes, in my experience, is to not up pot the plant too early otherwise it'll get waterlogged in the soil and have issues. I have made this mistake a lot in the earlier part of my planting career but getting a lot better and being patient now.

This took me the past two summers to kinda figure out. I seemingly kept overwatering on really hot days

Lol I mislabeled my Giant Paun as "Giant Praun" . I thought it was either from Australian or District 9.

Jacks Classic 20-20-20.

1/2 recommended mix: 1/2 tablespoon per gallon of water sprayed to foliage monthly in season.

Iíve tried 10-10-10, Osmocote 14-14-14, organics like gardentone etc. Based on overall plant growth (top side, roots, fruit) this works for me.  Keeps disease at bay.  I flush potted plants occasionally to change out medium and inspect roots. Happy with performance.

Other growers will undoubtably have their formulas that work as well. 😊 👍

Thanks. I have a big bag of Jacks Classic 20-20-20 that  I use on my figs. That makes things easy

What do you use to fertilize and how often? Feel like my pineapples didnt grow that much this year probably due to neglect

Can I get the Paulista?

I was also in this group order and would agree with everything

Good to see this happening. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help.
We had so-so germination rates (kinda bad actually). Seller said he would replace but I don't have time or want to do another import especially with the selection of seeds already in the US. Good luck!
I'd reccommend ordering a lot of seeds or else it is not worth it.
This was from Andrť also? This is the 2nd time I hear this. I'm a bit suprised. Do you think it's worth it?
Yes from Andre
Do I think itís worth it? Well if I asked the people I imported with Iíd say most would say no.
I spent $500 to get like 10-20 seeds to sprout into plantsÖ
Yeah we also imported in winter time. Andre did say heíd replace rotten seeds, but is it worth it to pay again for shipping? He also said heíd treat them better for rot when I talked with him. I havenít gotten them resent cause itís too much for shipping and I am supa busy. The people I talked with also had poor germination rates.

As of now in the USA where plenty of people are importing in bulk from him I see no reason for me to do another one. Since you are in Europe, thatís your call. Iím sure heíll do a good job but there many risks no matter what. Iíd say if you can get a good amount you should go for it. Of course donít want to pressure you into making decisions. Just my two cents.

Just jokin
