Since the hardiness of 026 seem satisfactory. What fruit quality improvements are you hoping to find in it's future children?

Calamansi is a hybrid between mandarin orange and kumquat and their peel is sweet but the fruit is sour like a kumquat

A mandarinquat is a hybrid between a between a mandarin orange and a kumquat and they also have sour flesh and sweet peels

I have read somewhere that E. glauca cannot be directly crossed with Poncirus. I would try it nonetheless. Yet, don't be disappointed. I try to cross it with Yuzu and C. ichangensis. Perhaps that is easier. My plant is grafted - rootstock unknown. It grows very slowly but had flowered last year.
If it doesn't cross with poncirus then it would make sense to try crossing it with an acidless pomelo to get size and less acidity to combine with glauca's drought tolerance and quick ripening.

Cold Hardy Citrus / Re: Poncirus from Seattle Arboretum
« on: November 28, 2022, 11:09:08 PM »
As a percentage of citrus the amount of poncirus is high but that's usually because the graft dies, the rootstock takes over and people don't realize or would rather have something rather than nothing. But citrus in general is very rare here and there is none in the wild

Yes, it is clearly a California Citrus not Texas Citrus...
Well as the say in Texas,
"Remember the Alemow".
Its "Alamo"  the Spanish word for the poplar tree.
And there are few fruits more poplar than citrus.

When performing an experiment nothing less than one of these switches will do

What do you use for grafting rootstocks ? Are they readily available ?
(Perhaps you mistranslated Propagation to Vaccination) ??
My auto correct always changes nucellar to nuclear...It just did it now too...
When I use google translate on citrusforum.org.ua "прививок" (grafting) is always translated as vaccination. So I assume that Daniil is also using google translate.

It looks a lot like a Large Milkweed Bug https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Large_milkweed_bug

A very beautiful bug that isn't harmful to citrus.

Fruit harvest/ripening depends on your location and the variety of the citrus. You can look it up here in the citrus variety collection (UCR).

Yes I understand.
I would like to know what date your pomelo is ripe by under your conditions.

I will be submitting my very good tasting pumello seedling tree to CCPP budwood program. So, maybe in 2 years you can buy some budwood from them. I have done taste comparision with my Thong Dee, Reinking, Chandler, Mato Buntan, and I think it tastes better than these. If it's accepted, the budwood will be available to the public, just need to pay budwood cost to UCR, CCPP program. Also plan to submit my Seedless Variegated valencia orange with Yellow skin (SVY).
.
Wondful! Thank you
What date is the fruit usually ripe at?

I'm in bremerton washington and I'm interested in tropical fruit because it seems silly to just restrict myself to cold hardy plants.
