Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Green Sapote's in California

I have a small grafted tree which I planted in the ground and is going through a really bad case of transplant shock. I'm desperately trying to keep it alive but if it's true about the poor fruit-set and fruit not ripening properly then I may not even bother. I live about a mile and a half from the coast...

Similar experience with a seedling, you should move it into a pot asap, it should grow back quickly with nutritious soil.

Interesting, You don't happen to know what time of year they ripen do you?

I know there are a few more growers here, anyone else have experiences with them fruiting?

Do the fruits fall out prematurely? I recently planted a grafted variety, now i am worried.

Are there any nice gardens or farms to visit in SD?

Fallbrook and vista is the mecca for top tier Mangos, Cherimoyas, and Lychee...... Atkins Nursery, Louies nursery, Exotica Nursery, Clausens nursery....You will even find a few Zill varieties at Exotica.

San Diego really doesnt have anything exotic...except for ONG...but I'm not sure if their varieties are true to name...I've never been there...but after speaking with them over the phone...They sound a bit sketchy...

Thanks Clay! How far is vista and fallbrook from each other? Is there a closer way to get there from LA?

Odd they charge inconsistent prices for different customers!

Wondering if anyone has any experiences with various passiflora varieties. I am looking for a couple varieties to plant that's productive, vigorous, and with decent tasting fruits.

Thanks in advance!
