$39 and $25 plus tax. They have El Bumpo.

There is no tax on edible plants in CA.

Yeah, I think that is not a cocktail tree but suckers from the rootstock. Remove any growth below the graft.

Somebody loaned me some "x-pens" that stand up on there own and go around the young trees nicely.

I also use 2x4 PVC mesh with small t-posts along my berries. Both work well.

Check this info out too... digging is a natural behavior for dogs. You might want to create a designated area for it (make a sandbox or dirtbox, bury his favorite toys in it, let him have at it....)

Is it possible the orange berry is this?

I bought one of these plants in Golden Gate Park SF. It had tasty fruit on it when I bought it. Hasn't fruited again yet (been about a year)...

These were on the underside of a passionfruit leaf. I'm in San Jose, CA. I assumed they are on the "against us" side and they're gone now...

Termites feed on dead wood (like house framing!). If you are getting trimmings from live trees there should be no termites. Just ask the guy beforehand the type of trees/alive or dead or diseased.

Wow........

Awesome stuff. Keep on planting and maybe make a video to share next time!

Dave Wilson has some great videos on their youtube channel. I like their pruning videos for backyard trees....

That trial in Mexico with the control plants and compost plants was pretty convincing to me (was the first of NullZeros links)....

Oscar aren't they fighting over introducing a foreign scale type insect to attack these trees? Sounds like a bad idea IMO, curious to your opinion and whether that idea is dead or not....

I've been tempted to get the Strawberry Guava's at Lowe's as well. I have a friend who got one a few months and just got her first ripe fruit. She said it was very good, although small size fruit (size of a quarter). I have a Lemon Guava that puts out small tasty fruit. In CA I don't think we'll have as many worm/fruit fly problems as the FLA guys.

Does anyone know if they set better fruit with a cross pollinator?

FWIW Persian lime is the same as Bearss lime. Here in CA they are sold as "Bearss" for whatever reason.

Try what this guy does:

Hand Pollinating my Pineapple Guava Tree with a Paint Brush

I like the petals and the fruit. They grow well out here in Nor Cal

I've seen this pop up on other forums in the past. I think she is using some kind of molds to make the shape....

She knows what she likes I guess.....

Mulberries are great. It's kind of cool to see these blackberry type fruits growing on trees. I'm sure you can get all kinds of citrus and mangos from the neighbors or the store but how often can you get a hold of mulberries?

272
Would you recommend pruning off some of the top to counter the root loss?

Espalier...hadn't thought of that. I guess I could anchor some wiring into the brick....

Just read the "pugging" thread. Maybe I should try that. Although it might mean a lot less fruit though...

Wish I had taken the stake out earlier...oh well live and learn!

275
First Post! Like the forum very much....

I left a stake too long on this Lemon Guava and now it won't stand on its own. The top of the trunk is thicker than the middle. What should I do to correct this? And what time of year should I do it? (I'm in 9b, San Jose, CA).

Thanks for any input..
