My Paxton Prolific aka KJ Pink is blooming now.
I read that this variety does not need to be hand pollinated in Australia
Is this the same case here in So-Cal?
Thanks!

It appears that fruit production on cherimoya/hybrids in absence of a pollinator is dependent on the petal length as well as ambient humidity.

The greater the humidity, the better the fruit set. The longer petals help to keep the stigma from drying out and becoming unreceptive to pollen.

Our zone is on single digit humidity now, so I will hand pollinate those flowers!

Considering the range of climates they are grown in here they shouldn't need hand pollination. That being said you are perhaps a little drier and less humid than what they prefer.
