EU only: Group seed order from Brazil
« on: October 13, 2022, 10:07:22 AM »
Similar to what a group did last year from the US, I'd like to organize a groupbuy from the same seller André from Brazil. But this time for EU people only! Why? Shipping and phytosanitary costs are quite high ($ 215 per shipment) so if we share those between the buyers it will decrease the cost significantly.

How does it work?
  • 10 seeds per species minimum
  • Handling costs per order from my side € 15 doesn't matter if it's a big or small order
  • shipping costs within EU € 7 per shipment
  • Check if there's interest
  • Place orders via Google sheet before 25th of October
  • I'll send payment info, payment to be made to me before 31st of October
  • I'll place final order with André and send the money to him
  • Receive the seeds and send to everyone in Europe

Wonderful. How long does it normally take to get to the EU from Brazil?

Definitely i am interested in this order and for the most of species!
But winter is comming and germination is difficult almost impossible. Would suggest the spring is the best time for such an order
Thanks
Mike

Shipping will be fast since it's shipped with DHL, should take max one week.

Well, just use a propagator and germinate them indoors. It's also the fastest method. The thing is that not all seeds are available all year round. This is what is available right now, in 6 months there will be a different selection (but for sure there will be an overlap).

Good to see this happening. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help.
We had so-so germination rates (kinda bad actually). Seller said he would replace but I don't have time or want to do another import especially with the selection of seeds already in the US. Good luck!
I'd reccommend ordering a lot of seeds or else it is not worth it.

This was from André also? This is the 2nd time I hear this. I'm a bit suprised. Do you think it's worth it?

Yes from Andre
Do I think it’s worth it? Well if I asked the people I imported with I’d say most would say no.
I spent $500 to get like 10-20 seeds to sprout into plants…
Yeah we also imported in winter time. Andre did say he’d replace rotten seeds, but is it worth it to pay again for shipping? He also said he’d treat them better for rot when I talked with him. I haven’t gotten them resent cause it’s too much for shipping and I am supa busy. The people I talked with also had poor germination rates.

As of now in the USA where plenty of people are importing in bulk from him I see no reason for me to do another one. Since you are in Europe, that’s your call. I’m sure he’ll do a good job but there many risks no matter what. I’d say if you can get a good amount you should go for it. Of course don’t want to pressure you into making decisions. Just my two cents.

Thanks, your two cents are really appreciated. It really helps to make an educated decision here.

What I don't understand is that you say that even his seeds are very low in germination, at the same time plenty of people from USA buy in bulk from him? I would think if the seeds are so bad, people would stop ordering?

Importers are buying hundreds of seeds. Germination rates may be low but numbers help.
If you’re just gonna buy 10 of a seed then it gets more risky.

Final prices added. Still there's enough interest to move on. I'll give it a try.
