My wife & I are new to this post but have been living in Thousand Oaks in Southern California for 27 years in our current home. We terraced the south-facing slope that took up about 1/3 of our property, added French drains, short walls, & irrigation, and now have a few different fruit trees going here. I already posted a note with photos in this forum on our 36-year-old mango tree we started from seed and transplanted here. Other tropical fruit trees that we've had success with include multiple varieties of bananas, cherimoyas, Capulin cherry, dragonfruit, tropical white & pink guavas, pineapple guavas ("feijoa"), strawberry guava, South African guava, ice cream bean (still small), jaboticaba, jujube, loquats, lychees, Macadamia nut, Pakistani mulberry, passion fruit vines, white sapotes, a black sapote, & red sugar cane. Our non-tropical trees & shrubs we're growing include multiple varieties of apple, Asian pears, avocados, a calamondin, a Lapins cherry, several figs, gooseberries, currants, 4 grapevines, kumquats, lemons, limes (Tahitian, finger, & Kaffir), mandarin oranges, blood oranges, a Cara Cara Pink navel orange, 2 regular navel oranges, peaches, persimmons, & pomegranates (red Wonderful & white Utah Sweet). Photos include "Ice Cream" variety banana flower, dragonfruit flowers, our backyard pirate ship with a deck that allows up to pick Anna & Fuji apples, the greenhouse, jaboticaba fruit on the tree, and a shot of some home-grown fruit.
