I have a Taiwan Shirley jujube that has different flavors from Thai Giant. The fruit tastes like an Asian pear, sweet, and crunchy. The texture is smooth unlike the grainy texture of Asian pears.

I have air layered two branches from my Manila tree.  Both branches were pretty thick, about 2 inches in diameter.  Both rooted vigorously and I cut them off after 3 months and transplanted to 5-g pots after heavy pruning.  One died in the winter, the other one survived and was planted in the ground in the fall.  It is growing well.

You can graft Asian pears to European pears or vice versa.
