If this tree was quite big (tall) - Rollinia laurifolia, habitat in Paraguay and nearest Brazil region.
Close relative of R. salicifolia and R. sylvatica.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: spots on my ilama leaves
« on: September 25, 2016, 01:06:01 PM »
I has the same problem with my Green and Red Ilama seedlings from different sources.
It's not disease or fungi. I notice high Ilama leaves sensitivity to sunshine (even some filtered) and to low humidity. Suspect some nutrition deficiency, but not Potassum. I'll be experimenting with additives of the clays and minerals.

Yeah, but morphology may be hiding cryptic species.  Did they do genetics as well?

Hi friend,
at my experience 5-6 monthes old A. coriacea seeds (from Vitor) germinated without scraping or soaking.
Giampaolo also germinated this seeds easily. Probably viability depends of storage condition.
I had wery bad germinating rate with A. crasssiflora seeds (without GA3), but my two Marolo seedlings popping out over 10-11 monthes in the adult Graviola pot. It was planted with lot of sand and ash. Probably this additives prevent the rot.
Do you have Annona tomentosa in your collection? As I know this species mostly habitat in Goias and Brasilia. Sometimes it is confused with widespread Annona dioica...

Hi Carlos,

I'm watching the participants of the forum by buying older seeds of these cerrado Annonaceous, I wonder who are throwing money away, because these seeds are difficult to germinate, have to be very careful.

I imagine the rate of germination of these seeds old, so I advise always buy fresh seeds, follow the advice of the master Carlos, wait!

Between February and April all these seeds are fresh and healthy.

Soon will be the new season...just wait

Cheers

Carlos

I suppose you confuse Annona coriacea "Marolo-Liso" (seeds Nowember-December) and Annona crassiflora "Marolo" or "Araticum" (seeds between February and April). First - easy to germinate, second - very difficult, both species from Cerrado.

Congrats Dada !!!
It's undoubtedly great finding of the last years.
You must plant some seeds in Ecuadorian "native soil". Duguetia spp isnt easy cultivated and you has better chances to start domestication then others fruitlovers in the world.
Many thanks for you search!

Alex!
I have the same problem. You irrigate with city water? If yes, you must forget it. I used
earlier pure city water, but it didn't work. Always had chlorosis problem with my plants (citrus trees and coffee was the worst)  So, i used for few years  "managed" city water. I'll tell you how i make it. First leave the water stand for a day. The chlorine is removed. Second I use vinegar essence for pickling. For 10 liter of water 1 teaspoon vinegar essence. From ph 7,5 to pH 6,8 decreases. And I use always a small amount of general fertilizer + small amount chelated Fe.
I know rainwater would be the best, but unfortunately there is no chance. I almost forgot: if you can't use vinegar essence, you can substitute citric acid. In this case for 10 liter of water 10 gramm citric acid.
This method worked my citrus trees and another acid soil loving plants(coffee, orangeberry)

It seems Ataman and Adam was right...
My water from well has too much mineral salts even after filtering. I changed watering of my Jaboticaba on rain water and replaced the 10 cm topsoil on acidic light forest soil.  As result new leaves grows fast and healthy. Moreover it began bloom again and set new fruits.

My first flowering in February probably was induced by powerful LED 50 W lamp (equal 450 W regular lamp). This LED lamp gave supplementary lighting in our dark winter days and stand wery close (1 -1.5 ft) to Jaboticaba trunk. The first flower buds appeared stright opposite the lamp.
Also could act infrared radiation from the lamp.
Just a guess... :)

I mean A. spraguei season will start (average) in September, A. coriacea - November.

My impression, Red/Purple Sweetsop leaves a little darker and a little more elongated than regular Green.
What is your opinion?

Some days ago I received Diospyros montana seeds (with others) from Roy-Ind.
He wrote this fruits rather ornamental. You can ask him more detailed.
But it can be confused with close Diospyros melanoxylon and Diospyros malabarica varieties.

Лучше напиши точные названия, подскажу где надёжнее и дешевле.
Если найдешь в Питере отзывчивых знакомых, кое-что могу подвезти (тот же Srikaya Merah...),
о ценах не спрашивай, когда-то что-то взамен предложишь.
