Thank you for this interesting information. I would be delighted to have the full article, if you can send it to me by email (colombo403@yahoo.fr).
I had quite a bit of difficulty identifying this species which was declared to me as Takini by certain people of Palikur origin. As I had certain doubts, it was ultimately the Cayenne herbarium which confirmed Helicostylis pedunculata for me by examining my samples. On the other hand, they did not know the vernacular name. There are 6 indigenous nations here, and 6 different languages, which makes things complicated.
I therefore think that the probability is high that the botanical identification is correct but indeed, given this article, the Takini appellation needs to be verified more thoroughly.

Hello everyone, here is a list of currently available seeds from the Guiana's forest.
All seeds are fresh, shipped just after cleaned from the fruit. Unviable seeds are discarded.
Please note that almost all seeds for sale are recalcitrant and are sent with moist medium to avoid any dessication. For this reason, it is not possible to send seeds with a seed import permit except if seed permit allow coco fiber or vermiculitis with the seeds.
All packets are sent by tracked priority airmail (no express mail) in flat bubble envelope. I can add CN22 customs declaration if needed.
Payments are done by paypal as friend.
Ship worlwide.

Annona Sp. "Pakayakni" seeds added

looks like a nice specimen- how would you rate it compared to paludosa? thoughts on it as a container plant?

Assuming seeds will be for sale at some point?

I have absolutely no luck with these small seeded annona but keep trying

Better than A. paludosa in my opinion.
The plant is smaller than A. paludosa, i would say same shape and size of A. sericea, but multi stemmed.
It should be a perfect container plant.
Both A. paludosa and A. sericea seeds are bulletproof, they keep viable for a long time (up to 1 year at least).
I have high germination rate with seeds partially exposed to direct sun, most of these Annonacea grow where forest is perturbated and ground exposed to sunlight. So i think sun exposure break seed dormancy.
It should be the same with Pakayakni.
And yes, i will add it to my seedlist for sale soon.

Hello everybody,

Few days ago, i've found a very pretty Annona shrub in the savanah.
The tree is 2 meters tall, multi stemmed.

2 rippen fruits were hanging on the branchs. Fruits are 6 cm in length. green turning yellow when mature.
Fruit appearance is very close to a tiny Biriba fruits. It was impossible to wait anymore for tasting it !

Texture is creamy, pulp is white and a bit translucid like Biriba.
Taste is delicious, like a mix of a sweet Biriba and Sugar apple.
One downside : several small seeds ;D
I'm still trying to identify the species, it could be Annona densicoma.
Here, natives calls it Pakayakni and it is considered as a delicacy.
Despite my searchs, i've not found any other plant around.
I've saved a bunch of seeds for growing this exciting species. It sounds suitable for container growing.
Anyone have an idea for its botanical name ?

Richard- you keep pulling me back in,

Any tips on sprouting the Chrysophyllum species? I always have trouble

I find Chrysophyllum seeds faster to sprout than pouteria.
That said some are still longer to sprout, like C. argenteum.
They sprout well under heavy rain when just on soil surface, but it is not easy to have heavy tropical rains in backyard for everyone here  ;D
Moist vermiculite in zip plastic bag works fine too.

Sapoticaba (Chrysophyllum cuneifolium) added

Added :

- Biriba (2 variety)

Nice looking species.. I regret to inform you that the Pouteria Guianensis seeds I got from you were all unviable due to a seed boring insect. Just an FYI for anyone else who ordered these, might be worth checking your pots or seeds.

Hello,

Sorry to hear that.
99% of the seeds i send are collected in the wild and seed boring insect risk can happens even if it is relatively rare.
When such a thing happens, do not hesitate to contact me and let me know as soon as you receive the seeds.
Please send me your order details by PM or email.
