I've been collecting rare tropical palm trees / tree ferns / ti's / crotons for about 15 years. As the palm trees grew overhead, I found that I had a lot of space underneath where once was covered by palm fronds. I was already incorporating ti's and crotons in the garden. What could I grow that would fill the void created by the palms getting taller? I was fortunate to go on a palm garden tour where the owner incorporated several Eugenias varieties. I researched online and soon caught the bug for tropical fruit trees/bushes. I am blessed to have a 1/4 acre garden in Huntington Beach. I have planted several Eugenias and now have moved up to adding mangoes / lychee / longan / loquat / tropical guavas / jujube to the mix. I am no where planted out, but hope to have these planted this year.
